So do they also forfeit the right to practice Christianity? I'm not suggesting that the state should be in the business of supressing religion, but there is no reason why the state should have to accomodate every crackpot criminal who claims his weird beliefs are a religion.

I would guess that most people think other people's religions equal "weird beliefs".
