I was showing her some of the videos..and our comments..she wants to know, while a tsunami is under the water..travelling fast ..till it nears shallows..what happens to a whale if it hits it?..fish food, right?
Thats a good question. However, in the open ocean you have the full thickness of the ocean to transmit the wave, therefore it wouldn't be noticed to any great degree. It is only when it encounters shallow water does it rise up.
