Gov. Pataki proved again yesterday that failure is no bar to advancement in state Republican politics.
Pataki nominated hapless GOP U.S. Senate candidate Howard Mills the Orange County assemblyman who had the worst showing in history in his race against Sen. Charles Schumer in November to be his new $127,000-a-year state insurance superintendent.

Pataki's just asking to lose, it isn't enough he's already down in the polls for re-election by twelve and in the senate race he's down by over twenty. He's finished.
Worst showing in history? Worse than Alan Keyes in Illinois?
Keyes was a conservative. Howard Mills is a RINO. The New York GOP or what's left of it, is on life support.
We take what we can get.
