I love it. Excellent analysis before you've even left your house!

That perfectly encapsulates the situation, although reading the MSM you'd never get that impression.

"BTW, ALL of us have "some" problems with things Bush does.

This ain't one of them."

No, it's not.

GW is an exellent political tactician, and the American people are the most generous in the world.
In any situation like this, we are going to shine.

Don't think this has anything to do with his political self....Bush is a caring compassionate Christian....He does what needs to be done with only one consultation....and that is Reverantly!....
He certainly doesn't worship any at the UN.

Hopefully our forces will maintain their force protection against terrorists who might try to take advantage of the opportunity.

"Don't think this has anything to do with his political self....Bush is a caring compassionate Christian...."

Of course, that's a given.

But he has to have support for whatever he's doing, and he's very good at gathering that support.

YES! But it also has something to do with his MBA.....He knows how to get things done....Can analyze the situation himself and doesn't need to call a quorum to decide what needs to be done.

15th MEU (SOC) heads to Sri Lanka for HA mission

ABOARD USS BONHOMME RICHARD (Dec. 30, 2004) -- After planning for a robust training package aboard the tiny island of Guam, a series of Tsunamis in the Indian Ocean has forced the the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) to change its plans and prepare for a Humanitarian Assistance mission in Sri Lanka.

Earlier this week, more than 110,000 people were killed when massive earthquake caused numerous Tsunamis that ripped apart vacation resorts and fishing villages along the coast lines of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other nations in the region. Within hours of the tragedy, the 15th MEU's original training plans were changed and the Marines and Sailors began preparing for a robust HA mission.

Guam was originally scheduled to be a working port for the 15th MEU with a series of training events designed to keep the Marines' warfighting skills sharp during the long journey. Instead, the visit turned into a high-speed logistical re-supply where the ship picked up several tons of food, mail and other supplies.

Logisticians with the MEU took every opportunity to acquire tools and other supplies needed for a HA mission of this magnitude. Shovels, chainsaws and lumber are just a a few items purchased to assist the devastated region.

While the 15th MEU's area of operation has yet to be named, the unit stands ready to perform a number of tasks such as purifying water, distributing humanitarian rations and providing transport of supplies using cargo helicopters and tactical vehicles.

END OF ARTICLE

====
COMMENT-

Before they left Guam, the MEU cleaned out the hardware stores of anything that could be used in the upcoming rescue operation.

The 15th MEU (SOC) includes air assets (fixed and rotary wing), landing craft, provisions for 90 days, and a battalion of infantry, the 1/1.

BTW, anyone know WHERE Kofi was until yesterday?

I'd be willing to bet that he was on vacation, didn't know about the tsunami, and someone finally got hold of him and told him to "Get out there and get this away from the US" or something stupid like that.

Isn't it amazing? They are complaining that it took until Monday for the President to come out and say something but Kofi Annan didn't come out until yesterday, Thursday.

So, where was Kofi Annan?

I KNEW IT!

Skiing, basking in mountains of frozen water while the most intense need of the tsunami victims? 10 points for you if you said, WATER. Oh puhleese, get rid of this doofus and give us somebody real and without criminal intent to head the UN? UN types so need to kiss his sorry ass "Goodbye" and get him the heck outta Dodge. What a jerk. Meanwhile, CVN 76 ("Mission Accomplished"?!!!), the Abraham Lincoln carrier group are steaming in to save the day. Doncha just love this President? I love this MBA, "do something now", Cowboy President. I have never felt the affection and respect for any President that I feel for Dubya. Sometimes it is beyond words for me to describe it - but then again, to Bushbots, fortunately, I don't have to. We all feel the same way. (If I could post OhioWfan's pic of the President in his flight suit on the deck of the Lincoln, I would. Obligatory picture request, OWF???)

Just imagine, if John Kerry were in the White House, he'd be forming some global test committee to see what the rest of the world thought.
