23 December, Thursday, an official presentation of the standing parliament group in support of the Chechen republic Ichkeria was held in office block of the Georgian Parliament. The members of the Group told the journalists that the principal item of their activity would be assertion of the Chechen people's right on self-determination and State system organization.

The Chechen party estimated the action of the Georgian parliamentarians at its true worth. The day before the presentation of the Parliamentary Group, the head of the Committee of Foreign Relations of the Parliament of CRI addressed a special salutatory statement to the Georgian colleagues on behalf of the Parliament of CRI.

“The Parliament o the Chechen republic Ichkeria welcomes the establishment of the special group within the Georgian Parliament to provide support to the Chechen Republic Ichkeria. The similar group is to be formed in the Parliament of Chechnya to cooperate with the Georgian side.

Our nations are historically sealed with the ties of friendship and remain such in contrast to any provocations aimed at their separation. The Chechen people friendly supported the Georgian President in his fight for independence of Georgia …

We believe in victory, and Chechen people do everything to gain it. Our position is strictly adjusted and is guided by the international law, despite all labels stuck by Moscow on the just struggle of the Chechen people against the occupation of our native land…

Not far off is the time when the hordes of Russian invaders leave the territory of Chechnya . Soon Georgia will be free from the pretensions of the Kremlin. Our fate is on our hands. Good luck, dear friends!”

The Assembly for Protection of Sovereignty of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria (APSCRI) has also provided an active support to the initiative of the Georgian Parliament -

“…Today Georgia and Chechnya continue the common cause of Gamsakhurdia and Dudayev, and stand against the common enemy in the person of reactionary forces, purposing their common object – liberation from the yoke of Russian imperialism. This undoubtedly will further the strengthening of ties and cooperation of our parliamentarians. We have to be together, hand in hand!

We should not allow a single occupation base, a single Russian soldier to remain in the long-suffering Caucasus . Our presidents were undefeated heading toward the sacred aim, defending freedom of our common Fatherland – the Caucasus . Their fate is enviable, and their names will find immortality”.

The Russian side has reacted, though preferred to limit themselves with the customary falsehood and lies instead of giving their well-reasoned opinion. However, following the presentation of the Parliamentary Group in support of the CRI, the Russian Foreign Ministry or State Duma, undoubtedly will snarl at Georgia through some obscure threatening protest.

To the Georgian parliamentarians credit be it said, the presentation has showed that they do not refuse from any paragraph stated earlier. Moreover, they are going to initiate a claim for Chechnya to the State Duma of Russia in the nearest future, offering their mediatorial services.

The moratorium on extradition of the Chechens to Russia remains to be one of the number one problems for the parliamentary group. This sore point is especially urgent, as firsthand information was received the day before the presentation that Georgian authorities are considering the question of next extradition of the undisclosed citizens of CRI to Russia .

The international reaction on the initiative of the Georgian parliamentarians gives hope that the group effectively will carry out the activities. This opinion is strengthened with the fact that favorable reports with the suggestions to cooperate with the Georgian parliamentarians were received from France , Lithuania , Estonia , Latvia , Tatarstan.

Along with the Georgian parliamentarians the invited representatives of human rights and public and political organizations, as well as journalists and representatives of the Chechen Diaspora were among the guests at the presentation ceremony.

The head of the Vainakh Department of the Centre for Cultural Relations - “Caucasian House” told the journalists that the decision of the Georgian parliamentarians is urgent and timely -

“ Georgia will be a State in case it works out the state Caucasian policy. First of all, Georgia should arrange its affairs with the neighbors. Only after that the country will be able to integrate and take part in global projects. It is clear that first the affairs should be arranged with the Chechen Republic Ichkeria”.

The Georgian parliamentarians have provided support to the discredited Chechens sentenced to death by the international community. This step taken against the background of separate reckless actions on the part of the executive power of Georgia and some Georgian politicians, undoubtedly, will have a favorable influence on the mutual relation of two nations.

One of the initiators of the Group Koba Davitashvili said at the presentation:

“The Group is formed of ten representatives of two factions. The number of the members will increase. We will maintain close contact with all factions. We also intend to initiate talks between Chechnya and Russia . If Russia can initiate the talks in Abkhazia, why are we forbidden to do the same concerning Chechnya ?”

Correspondent: What's common and what's different to make comparison between Chechnya and Abkhazia?

Koba Davitashvili: “Common is the factor of Russia . As to the difference, it should be admitted that Abkhazia, fighting for independence, has fallen under dependence of Russia . Of course, this means no independence, while Chechnya , the Chechen people are really striving for independence”.

The representatives of the Chechen Diaspora expressed their hope that Milly Mejlis of Azerbaijan will follow the example of their Georgian colleagues. As is known, there are many Chechen refugees on Azerbaijan , where common interests of the Caucasus are also concentrated.

This along with Baseyov's official declaration of alliance with Sakaashvilli (which Sakaashvilli did nothing to deny) all makes for a very interesting question: Why are we giving nearly $100 million to Georgia to stop the Islamic infiltration into Chechnya and the spread of the Jihad when it continously uses our money and then aids and abbets the islamics?

Note the US equipment on these guys. We give a lot of equipment to train the Georgians, seems that at least some of that is flowing to the Chechins & Arabs.

Let us pray that many of these men will this year get their chance to speak to their devil Allah in person.

This is a military council. Note the building and the condition it is in. It was obviously not taken in Chechnya, most likely in a neighboring country....hmmm.

If true, then it looks like Russia will have full justification to engage in regime change in Georgia.

100% true, we should remember that Russians invaded Chechnya not otherwise. Terrorists didn’t existed then.

OSCE observers accomplish mission on Georgia-Russia border

MOSCOW, December 31 (Itar-Tass) -- OSCE observers “have accomplished their mission on the Georgian-Russian border,” a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday in connection with the expiry of the OSCE monitoring mandate.

“The OSCE is terminating monitoring in that region and will start dismantling its infrastructure,” the source said. “That may take several months.”

“Now that Russia and Georgia are successfully cooperating for security of their common border, the OSCE monitoring, which was not very efficient, has stopped having an influence on the state of affairs,” the source said. “Meanwhile, cooperation with Georgian border and security services will go on to prevent border trespassing and terrorism.”

The ministry is perplexed with claims that the OSCE is allegedly terminating sort of a mission in Chechnya. “True, a sector of the Georgian-Russian frontier borders on the Chechen republic of the Russian Federation, but OSCE observers were working on the Georgian territory,” the source said. “It is equally strange to hear about an alleged Russian veto on a certain agreement in the OSCE. People who make such claims are obviously unaware of the rules of opening and closing OSCE missions and the principle of consensus on which the organization is based.”

You are right, most Chechins hate him, that is why most of the fighting is done by local Chechin Russian militias and police against the terrorists. As for their "image" their image was the ethnic cleansing of 400,000 + Russians, Georgians, Armenians and Jews from northern Chechnya which until the 1920s was not Chechin land (to include Grozny) but Tarek Cossak land. Further, the expulsion of 400,000 + Chechins from Chechinya sure didn't help that image either.

Since you are soooo concerned for their image, why did Poland block entry to Chechin "refugees"? Oh and don't pay attention to the 200,000 Chechins that live in Moscow peacefully.

No we should remember that Chechins were practicing slavery and enslaving Russians, Georgians, Armenians and various other groups in the area and selling them off to Persia and Khiva. We should also remember that 100 years of punitive expiditions did not end this slavery, only the out and out annexation of the territory. But I don't expect you to acknowledge little details of history that don't fit your Russophobic, EUfacist views. Darn those facts of history.

I see that Georgians don’t have any problem with Chechens. I repeat Russians attacked Chechnya not otherwise, you cannot rewrite history.

Since you are soooo concerned for their image, why did Poland block entry to Chechin "refugees"?

This isn’t true, please provide sources.

We have hundreds of refugees from Chechnya, that group wasn't let in because they didn't have documents.

You need to study your history. Chechnya wasn't even a country when Russia first conquered the area.

Oh nonsense! Chechens are fighting with almost every militant Islamic terrorist group in the world.

Yeah, that's why a Chechin blew up one of our ships in Yemen. Why Chechins sit in Guantanomo, why dead Chechins litter Afghanistan and Iraq. But for the Russophobic EU agents, it's emotional reaction time. If a Chechin was cutting their mother's throat while a Russian was fighting another Chechin, they'd still side with the Chechin, just because.

"Chechnya , the Chechen people are really striving for independence"

There were few years of actual independence in Chechnya. The Sharia law, influx of Wahabi fighters from Arab countries, slave trade, invasions of other territories and mass kidnappings followed. Situation got worse, not better.

Why the Russians would be willing to commit political suicide? Russia is too big, too complex to be occupied by the EU/US troops in Kosovo/Bosnia style.

100% true, we should remember that Russians invaded Chechnya not otherwise.

It was the Cheche/Arab invasion of Dagestan that forced Russians to send troops back to Chechnya.

Terrorists didn’t existed then.

Do you mean times before XIX century? Are you saying that Chechens before Russian takover were not warlike people involved in kindappings and slave trade? BTW, do you remember what was the "jasyr" - the practice of brave Muslim freedom fighters on the eastern land of Polish Commonwealth in XVI and XVII centuries?
