OC Catholic school angers parents by admitting gay couple's sons

COSTA MESA, Calif. A group of parents and parishioners are accusing the Orange County diocese of violating church doctrine by allowing a gay couple to enroll their children in a Catholic school.

The group has demanded that Saint John the Baptist School in Costa Mesa accept only families that pledge to abide by Catholic teachings. That would likely bar the men's two adopted boys from attending the school's kindergarten because of church opposition to relationships and adoption by same-sex couples.

School officials have rejected the group's demands and issued a new policy stating that a family's background -- quote -- "does not constitute an absolute obstacle to enrollment in the school."

I don't like the way those kids are being reared either.

I don't agree with this. This is an opportunity to teach these children the word of God.

And also an opputunity for those children to teach their classmates how daddy and daddy spare the rod.

I find no mention that the child is gay. Imagine the kid will receive more than enough undeserved punishment over this situation in his lifetime. Find no reason to add to it. I do not beleive that he had a choice in this matter. This is an issue that came out of our liberal courts.

Absolutely. And for Christians to turn away innocent children from the opportunity to hear God's word is a sin.

The child would get a good catholic education. Hopefully the child will learn what true christian living means.

Most Catholic schools allow non-Catholics to attend school. Obviously, they are not required to follow the teachings of the Church, but, like all other students, they are required to attend religion classes. Maybe it would be good for this kid to be there to get some full on Catholic teaching; assuming the school actually DOES follow the Church's teachings.

"The child would get a good catholic education."

Yes, I'm sure there are many, many children of divorced, adulterous, dishonest, atheistic, etc. people who are enrolled in Catholic schools. There are certainly many, many non-Catholics enrolled, so I can't really agree with these protesting parents. I think this calls for Jesus's admonition regarding those (non-existant) persons who are without sin.

Actually those parents will sue just as soon as the kid is taught that being homosexual is a sin. We all see that coming.

They have opened pandoras box.

I would not continue to fund this school if I were the parents.

Agreed. I knew a lot of kids who would be in jail and doing nothing if they attended public school. I'm not on the parents' side. Sorry. A child isn't responsible for their parents.

Lots of children can't afford the education of a catholic school and are turned away is that also a sin...?

Actually many schools will work out payment plans with parents. However, if they want to hear God's word only, they can always attend mass.

that is what the HOMOSEXUALS are hoping for! They and the aclu queers (this is a legitimate word used by homosexuals!) will take this school to court and using the HATE THINK crime laws - just as they are doing in Philladelphia - destroy this school and all the children.

They will claim, and correctly so, that the Church teachings make the children see them as sinners and turn the children away from perversions and the perverts.

This process is so clear I can't imagine that everyone doesn't see it by now.

That's true. Some people can't afford it but if they were able to keep a portion of their school tax, they would. I don't know about vouchers. I'd rather get a reduction.

"if they want to hear God's word only, they can always attend mass"

I guess you have never been in a Catholic School? There is a reason it is called a "Catholic School" and not a "secular school" nor a "muslim school" etc.

It is also hard NOT to get a "religious experience" with Mother Superior standing over you with the ruler saying "Fingers up!" Whack!

;>)
