An American-Islamic group has blasted the makers of Kiefer Sutherland's hit TV drama 24 after learning the first episode of the new season portrays a Muslim family as terrorists. Officials at the Council on American-Islamic Relations were made aware of the controversial episode after upset Muslims got hold of a promotional preview of the show, which airs next week. The council's spokeswoman Rabiah Ahmed says she's particularly disturbed by one scene, in which an American-Muslim teenager plots to kill Americans. She adds, "It casts a cloud of suspicion over every American Muslim family out there." Bosses at TV network Fox, who air the show, have yet to counter the comments.
the American Taliban how novel...not that any American Muslims has ever tried this
Moslems as terrorists?
Who wudda thunk?
The cloud of suspicion was already present before this show was aired.
Another Reality Based show, eh?
You beat me to it.
Maybe they should just calm down, relax, and have a nice warm glass of shut the hell up!
It's about time that 24 has terrorists who are actually Muslims. To date they have been Europeans and Russians.
Maybe this is what it will take for the moderate - non-terrorists to finally step forward and condemn the terrorists.
Great tagline.
Correct! The cloud of suspicion is ever present. I'm suspicious of the guys running the gas stations. When I pay for my gas and look at the man behind the bullet proof glass wall in the gas station, I wonder: Does he want to kill me? I'd rather be safe than sorry.
This discussion is the sign that we are too politically correct. It is a TV show, and for those who do not watch the show. Season 2 dealth with a plot to detionate a nuke in LA. Season 2 did not portray all Muslims in a bad light. Look at Reza, Yusuf Auda. I also mention Marko, the terrosist that had a last second change of heart. Reza wasnt the terrorist, it was rich white girl finacee Marie.
Peter Kingsley, a white rich business man, with oil interests wanted to start a needless war. The bad guys in Season 1 were Serbian, and the bad guy in Season 3, was Stephen Saunders a former M-15 Agent, who was left behind in Bosnia.
Awwwwwwwwwww, they're upset? TFB!
"THEY'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME!"
I've never seen 24, but almost EVERY commerical I've seen features that line.
That's OK; PETA will go on the warpath the next time a show depicts a rabid skunk biting someone - how dare someone insinuate a rabid skunk would bite someone...
I don't watch TV but I have watched seasons one and two of "24" on DVD. I can't wait to see season 3.
I was really surprised to see Season 2 take on this issue frankly. I have been suspicious of Hollywood ever since they changed Tom Clancy's Villains in the "Sum of All Fears" to Neo-Nazis. That was ridiculous that they had to be so PC when they made the movie. I don't think Neo Nazis ran planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
I'm looking forward to watching more "24". Heck, I may even buy the DVD sets to show support for the producers. (Besides, I love the show!!)
