As many of you know, The Hobbit Hole has been following the story of Andy, a young Marine that was injured in Fallujah on Thanksgiving Day. You can read about our initial introduction to Andy here...
I’ve posted periodic updates from his mother and the Hobbit Hole has sent cards and even sent him a couple of our knives, one especially fine knife with his name engraved on it, as a token of our appreciation.
Andy is doing well, although he had to make the decision not long ago to have his wounded leg removed. Since then, he has really progressed. He still has quite a bit of rehab to go.
If you have the Time Magazine with Bush on the front...the Man of the Year magazine...Andy is in the section where he is getting his Purple Heart from President Bush. He is shaking the president’s hand. You can see Andy, but all you can see of Bush is his hand and forearm.
At this current time, his parents are staying at the Navy Lodge and I asked them if there was anything we could do for them. They had only one request and I thought I would pass it on to the animal lovers of this forum.
They need help with the cost of boarding both Andy’s dog Gus, and their own animals during the time they are staying with Andy. The animals are being boarded at:

But I will send it without fail tomorrow and it should arrive by Friday latest...I'm sure the "dog motel lady" has a lot on her plate running the business, but I also look forward to seeing the "up-dated bill"...I anticipate good results!!

Hey, Hair! Have we heard anything today? I've been away from the computer for most of the day.
We are still waiting for news of the latest totals....
I suspect we'll hear something soon...
A whole slew of checks came in today. I haven't had a chance to update the web site but I think we are about $50 away from clearing the bill. I will have it updated by close of business tomorrow. Tell everyone on the list Thank you and not to send anymore money. Any overage will be sent to the Hatchers with the names & address of all the donors.

Hey! Just got that, too!!
Let's start a new campaign...Lisa's husband is in Iraq...let's urge her to compensate her family for her 15% voluntary discount to help our efforts. That runs about $166.00...let's round it to @250.00.
I know she thinks that all the xtra money should go to the Hackers, but I think (and I am not speaking for them, although I know in my heart) that they would want her to be made whole for her time and loving care!
Can we bump and get Lisa taken care of, too?
Don't worry, folks...we just want to fairly compensate her for her business, her time, and her love.
To clarify...we don't need more money...we just want Lisa to make herself whole.
That is my proposal.
I'd be willing to contribute my donation to that, once we get the bill paid.

Ok, here is what I think about any overage...
I think we should let Lisa make her contribution and here's why. I didn't bring it up because the kennel bill was so high and I really just hoped to get "some" of it paid, to take the burden off the family. However, Andy's folks, Chris and George, also had a cat they had to board with their vet. I don't know any more than that, but I think any overage Lisa gets should go to the Hatchers to help pay off that bill (and possibly others that we just have no idea about.)
Lisa's 15% off is her gift to the Hatchers...just like the ones we sent...she wants to do it.
That said, I do think that when all is said and done, we should do SOMETHING to thank Lisa. Any ideas? She has this thread link and if we want to surprise her, Freepmail me!
It is great. I'll ping everyone when the website's all updated! I know many will want to see how well it turned out.
I think that's a good idea. I bet even more come in today and she might be able to include those as well.

She really is a troop support nut. She was with me at the beginning when we were sending packages to Chaplain Kircher with the 101st Airborne at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo, and then went independently crazy.
As a Mom of 2 Jedis, however, she can't blame her unhinged mental health on me. Her sweet kids drove her crazy long before I met her.
