for the lazy or busy - the right move was to renominate 20 judicial candidates that were filibustered by the dims
Ann Coulter on FNC now (CST)
Actually, it's now in every time zone!
I think the Reps are primed to do something bold to break the deadlock on judicial nominees. Commentaries like this are the early salvos.
The Rule...!
The article states that Ken Salazar, Senator elect of CO, promised in his campaign not to filibuster judges.... One step closer to votes on the floor for those being held up, or so it seems.
Remarkable that USA Today agreed to publish this. Senator Sessions makes a persuasive arguement that should appeal to ordinary readers.
The republicans don't want a nuclear option, they want a constitutional option. Something the democrat don't want any part of.
I have not made a statement either way to the decision to keep Spectre as Chairman. Both arguments were compelling, and was uncertain as to the best option. My only interest is ensuring judges are no longer subjected to a litmus test.
I am closely watching how the Reps handle the filibusters. This is a key issue for me, as it is for many conservatives. I'm anxiously anticipating what I hope is about to happen. The Reps break the filibusters, and I'll guarantee my support during the fallout in the MSM. I have a long memory, that can work to the good as well as the bad. Senators that sign on with us won't be forgotton.
thanks for picking up my slack there
You & I know that, but the cartoonist may have been using the popular term...possibly...
Jeff Sessions - Presidential timber.

I hope I'm not simply deluded by wishful thinking, but Frist has sent out plenty of signals that the GOP senators have had it with the obstruction. I think they also realize that they can't be seen as weak against the tyrany of the minority, and continue to expect conservatives' votes.
I don't believe you are deluded.
I'm cautiously optimistic. The basic numbers have altered in "conservative" favor in the Senate, at least where the Judiciary is concerned. I do understand they were handicapped before as a "majority minority".
The trouble is that faith is earned. What the Reps have been signaling sounds good but the track record, regardless of handicaps, has been discouraging. In front of the camera it "felt" as if they weren't willing to go to the mat to stop the filibusters. Behind the scenes it may have been different but since we aren't privy to their strategy sessions we can only take our cue from what we see.
If nothing else I'm still energized by the election. I don't think this session is going to mirror the last. Only time will tell, but I do sense a change. I do believe there is cause for hope but I'm withholding full faith until they've earned it.
I think the GOP margin in the Senate was so slim that the likes of Lincoln Chaffee, Spector, Susan Collins, and perhaps Olympia Snowe, made it impossible for the Reps to "drop the bomb," so to speak, on the Dems' filibuster efforts. The muscle it would have taken to make a procedural decision that filibusters of judicial nominations are unconstitution stick simply didn't exist before this election. We'll see.
