Reverend is a term meaning he was ordained by some religious organization.
My brother is one and was ordained by a local group of churches.I don`t know if there is any legal aspects to it and I don`t mean to diminish the title for those that admirably carry on the duties of a shepherd in a local church but it really doesn`t mean a lot in some respects.
I have known one pastor that refused to be ordained because he felt it was an inappropriate term of elevation. Each to their own.
Someone can be ordained and called Reverend and never have a thing to do with church such as Rev.Barry Lynn(I think that is his name)who is prominent for filing suits against any religious activity that is on public ground.
