I used to love his show. When he got divorced and started living the life he used to mock when others lived it, and let Jackie go, his show stopped being funny. Yes, I know a lot of people don't like that kind of humor; understood. For those who did like it, it was a weird and hysterical collection of people whose arguments and disagreements on taste were entertaining. Now all he talks about is hating Bush and how hard it is to be a millionaire dating a model half his age, and instead of an antagonist partner in Jackie he has a sidekick who laughs at everything he says and sounds scared if caught not agreeing with Stern 100%. His incessant bitching about Bush and the FCC turned him into a whiney self-obsessed rich guy, when before he was a likeable grouch.
Retire.

Stern's show was VERY funny fifteen years ago (or maybe I was just much more easily amused back then?). The show was more free-form, a real train wreck that drew you in. You never knew where he was going with something, or what his take would be. He seemed to get more and more formulaic and predictable over time, until he became pretty much unlistenable soft-porn a few years back. I would tune in from time to time to see if anything had gotten any better. Nothin' doin'. From what little I've heard, I agree that he hit rock bottom after his divorce and parting with Jackie. IMO, yet another case of a performer whose audience grows up, while he can't (or won't).

I think Billy West's departure was the point it stopped being funny!

Absolute bullseye. The lame, overhyped 'Private Parts' movie and the E Show were also part of the decline.

My sentiments exactly, except I was more upset about Billy West leaving than I was about the Jokeman.
