I've often wondered, how they know, whom to send those ads to?

Question better left unasked #34,261.

Naw, not really, nothing like that. I'm a legend in my own time mind! Was just commenting about lack of privacy, the impact of 2000 emails asking a guy to look "down", and then wondering which old girlfriends (and by this time in my life, I mean REALLY old) had put my email address on the SPAM list. Presumptuous of them. Like, sure, how would they know?! lol

"Foodless foods"

They foresaw the rise of fast-food culture."Our children will learn from TV"

All the wrong things, unfortunately!

I keep thinking 'Velveeta' and 'I Can't Believe It's Not Butter' when I read those two words...

Actually, when you view the movie 2001, we are quite a bit further advanced than the movie predicted, especially in communications and computers. We could have done the space travel they showed in the movie had we been willing to spend the money. We have the technology to do everything they did.

Many computer predictions have come true (except for AI), probably because of Moore's law.

The prediction about a passenger spaceplane powered by solid fuel reminds me of SpaceShipOne.

"We have the technology to do everything they did."

Except suspended animation and a truly thinking computer.

When they made these predictions, the computer industry was ruled by large mainframes. Although the prediction about computer networks was spot on, nobody predicted just how small the hardware would be able to get.

Also, I once read an article about a British company which has developed a way to regrow missing teeth.

Actually, that's a pretty accurate description of Al Gore.

"Do you have an indoor pool?"

No.

"Video-phones?"

Nope.

"And answering machine that gives you up-to-the-minute news and transcribes your latest snail-mail?"

None of those.

"Wall-to-wall global TV?"

Nada.

I think Richard Feynman was talking about nanotechnology in the early 1960's.
