Thousands of Mujahidin on the way to Aceh
An American Expat in Southeast Asia ^ | Jan 5, 2005 | LHM

This evening at maghrib prayers throughout Java calls went out for "volunteers" to go to Aceh to provide humanitarian services and "spiritual guidance" for those affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Volunteers from Solo, Kendal, Bogor, Cirebon, Majalengka, Pekalongan and Yogyakarta have answered the call and are being transported in chartered buses to Jakarta. At least 77 members of (JI) departed Tuesday (4/1/05) from Yogyakarta to Jakarta in two chartered buses.

Islamic militancy groups are angry and claiming that Jakarta has refused to allow the charter of private aircraft from Jakarta into Banda Aceh at the request of the Americans and Australians and thus has prevented Indonesians from from providing for their own humanitarian efforts. (According to my sources, this is true. To avoid conflict, high level requests have been made to do all possible to thwart and delay the arrival of militant groups)

Jemaah Islamiah (JI) and Islamic Defenders' Front (FPI) are working to coordinate their efforts and work together - according to sources individuals from Laksar Jihad with their connections to the Indonesian military have requested logistics assistance and so far been refused.

The groups are now in discussions with Gerakan Acheh Merdeka (GAM) with regards to coordinating their "relief" efforts as hundreds of individual members of both JI and FPI and other groups arrived into Medan this evening.

So, how long before the first American relief worker is attacked?

Here is the link to the blog entry in case it doesn't work above.

Question: When I tried to post this, I got an error saying it should be posted to the "Bloggers Forum". I tried to put "bloggers" in the topic field, and I tried to look up "Bloggers" in the "Choose" dialog but couldn't find it.

It won't be long before an aid worker is kidnapped and beheaded, after the terrorists regroup. Boy are they gonna buy some serious weapons with all that stolen aid money.

I'm no expert, but I'd suggest entering the Bloggers & Personal forum, and then posting it from there.

I have a rather tough suggestion. Wait for the boats with these terrorists on them and sink them. Take out everyone of them! To allow them to go to this island would be to allow them to completely take it over that Island and after things settle down they would take over the entire region.

"Boy are they gonna buy some serious weapons with all that stolen aid money."

I believe that is why we have been requested to give directly to relief agencies, rather than the U.N. or the Governments themselves. It will be hard for Militants or Terrorists to steal money from USAID or Feed the Children. In the past we would give money directly to the Government of the country hit by a natural disaster. This situation is being handled totally different

If they are indeed in touch with GAM, there is no way these guys will ever make it to Aceh proper. Hehehe.

Talk about a flypaper stategy!

One possibility I like is to interect any boats and put the "mujahideen ashore along the west coast in the center of the worst devastation, with no water or supplies. Let 'em walk the rest of the way. The locals will take proper care of them as soon as they identify themselves as Javanese do-gooders.

The picture in my mind was a bleating goat tied to a post and all the mujahideen coming to rescue mama.

Flies and flypaper express it well too!
