You can put a cross on a sign. A cross could be used as a weapon.

Now, while other religious symbols are not on the list there, I presume they would also ban menorah's or stars of david etc.

If that is the case, I have no problem with it. Anything that could be used as a weapon needs to be carefully controlled.
