Don't waste your time with these schleps that have an agenda and no logical argument.

Stick to working on those on the fence.

Although it is possible your well thought out responses to their drivel might be read by some. Then, they might be persuaded.

I'm glad you're on the right side.

"And what does my argument say about me? "

It says you are a man person who would watch a 13 year old boy die for no other reason than his father failed to comply with immigration laws. Would you be proud to tell your daughters that? Would you be man enough to put a link to this thread on your resume as an example of your logic trumping emotions.

Things sometimes have a way of coming back on people. I hope neither of your daughters are ever seriously injured in an automobile accident while you are "illegally" speeding (or with expired license or insurance) and people refuse her assistance because you were illegal.

We treat a lot of emergency charity foreign cases in my town, including providing transportation to America for them. It doesn't hurt us at all; in fact the medical center just added another one million square feet last year.

No it's not.

"Aren't you that illegal immigration cheerleader?"

No, I'm that Bush supporter who doesn't appreciate all the Buchanan/Tancredo Bush ashes, xenophobes, union pukes, racists and DU plants saying that President Bush is a traitor because he won't kick all the Mexicans out of the country.

5{arent a whole bunch of us are going to have to sacrifice a lot more before some people will admit they get it. They're not immune. The TB being brought from south of the border is more deadly than cancer, resistant to our drugs. Leporsy. Other crud we haven't had to deal with much in generations. That's if the gangs don't get 'em first.

And now Mexico has set up a shoot off branch of their government in LA courtesy of a comic on how to get here. How many other 3rd world nations will follow Mexico's lead? Mexico will make another fortune coyote-ing them across the border.

Barron's says 20 million illegals living in this country.

And all we keep asking, and never get an answer to is, how many is enough?

Hospital emergency rooms are not closing in high illegal alien areas??? Voters are not passing propositions to deny social services to illegals??? Schools are not over-crowded and over-burdened in high illegal alien areas???

But you support the positions of xenophobic, racist, anti-American organizations such as La Raza and MEChA. And I haven't heard any FReeper say that they want to kick all Mexicans out of the United States. But I have heard many FReepers say that they want to kick all Mexican illegal immigrants out of the United States. There's a big difference between "all Mexicans" and "all Mexican illegal immigrants".

"Hospital emergency rooms are not closing in high illegal alien areas???"

Not because of illegal immigrants. The federal government reimburses hospitals for their care and doesn't require that they treat them beyond stabilizing them to the point where they can be transported elsewhere.

In Houston, where the population is 40% Hispanic with an estimated two hundred thousand illegals, the hospitals are doing very well. New ones are being built all over town and the medical center added one million square feet last year.

Illegal immigrants are used as a scapegoat by incompetent hospital administrators, hospital districts and local and state governments. Hospitals in rural areas are folding because they can't provide the quality of care that larger hospitals can. The rich patients and those with better insurance travel to the better hospitals.

The richest people in the world come to MD Anderson in Houston for cancer treatment. Insurance pays for air ambulances.

If it weren't for the prosperity and tax base contributed by our Hispanic citizens we wouldn't have MD Anderson.

Similarly, LA, the 2nd fastest growing business sector in America, has a serious gang problem. Houston does not. Maybe the difference is that LA, which is several times larger than Houston, only has 9,900 police officers whereas Houston has 25,000.

Don't blame immigrants for problems that incompetent government can't handle. Labor is an asset, not a liability.

That would be me, actually, as a taxpayer, that is reimbursing those hospitals.

... and doesn't require that they treat them beyond stabilizing them to the point where they can be transported elsewhere.

So long as 'elsewhere' isn't back to their country of origin.

I don't know what the positions of those groups are. I support the reforms advocated by President Bush and the Republican Party leadership.

Anti-immigrant Internet sites are popping up like mushrooms. It's the latest Internet cottage industry. Very low start up costs and overhead, but very high profits. They all exploit the fears and prejudices of racists and xenophobes.

They have two common themes. that President Bush is doing nothing at all to prevent people from crossing the Southern border (they don't care about Canada), and that these people are destroying America. Both themes are absolutely false, but people who are so blinded by their hatred that they would let a young boy die will believe anything.

Labor is an asset, not a liability. This nation was built by immigrants, legal and illegal. We are a nation of immigrants.

"That would be me, actually, as a taxpayer, that is reimbursing those hospitals. "

True, but the fact is they are being reimbursed. And the money goes to local doctors and nurses who spend the money locally.

"There's a big difference between "all Mexicans" and "all Mexican illegal immigrants". "

Really? What are those differences other than one has papers that are current and one does not?

Is there a difference in skin color? Religion? Language skills? Education? Work habits? Technical skills? Birth rates? Music and food preferences? Clothing?

When a person's visa lapses does he automatically undergo some strange metamorphose like The Hulk?

In Houston immigrants have been a tremendous asset and we haven't had any of the problems the xenophobes claim accompany immigrants.

And many of the FR posters who claim to only oppose "illegal" immigrants are posting articles from sites that oppose all immigration such as FAIR, CIS and Buchanan.

You mean the difference between a Mexican LEGAL immigrant, who is here LEGALLY, and a Mexican ILLEGAL alien, who is here ILLEGALLY? One abides by our immigration laws and the other violates our immigration laws. That's enough of a difference to me.

And many of the FR posters who claim to only oppose "illegal" immigrants are posting articles from sites that oppose all immigration such as FAIR, CIS and Buchanan.

And the vast majority of FReepers who oppose illegal immigration DON'T post articles from sites that oppose all immigration.

It is nice to know that the poor guy did not have any out of pocket expenses like the rest of us would. I had rotator cuff repair last year and had to pay about $3,500 out of pocket, but I guess if I was an unemployeed illegal I could have gotten it for free.

So how is this destitute family going to afford anti-rejection medicine and ongoing medical care? My wife is a kidney transplant recipient. Her Rxs are several $hundreds a month.

I suspect that the family will be allowed to stay and that the cost will also be picked up by the US taxpayers.

BS.

You are taking a very human situation where we can show our compassion conservatism and making it a spring board to bring the immigration issue.

"One abides by our immigration laws and the other violates our immigration laws. That's enough of a difference to me. "

Then you should welcome the ones who are now illegal when the law is changed to make them legal. Or is legality just a cover for other reasons?

Get with the program guys , it's all free .. Everything is free ....

That is the lamest argument imaginable. Comparing someone who is illegally speeding (perhaps racing to the hospital?) with someone who is in this country illegally.

We treat a lot of emergency charity foreign cases in my town, including providing transportation to America for them. It doesn't hurt us at all; in fact the medical center just added another one million square feet last year.

Hospitals are closing in the southwest because they are being bankrupted by the cost of treating illegal aliens.

Do you have some sort of vested interest in illegal immigration?
