Nuclear Submarine Runs Aground South of Guam

This is not really a reply but a new subject, related to the grounding.

One of my duties for the company I work for is to monitor, and maintain our seismic equipment. As part of that I perform a daily check the seismic activity in our immediate area and I usually check the Pacific Rim. I live on the Coast of California near San Luis Obispo.

Facts: the San Simeon (6.0) earthquake moved the mountain range at the epicenter about 18" vertically. The earthquake in Indonesia moved islands, I have heard as much as several HUNDRED feet, some appeared, some sank. About 3 days before the Dec. 26 quake there was one of nearly equal magnitude (8.2) on the Pacific Rim Southeast of Austrailia in open ocean. I don't remember the exact distance but I think it was a couple of hundred miles. I believe it was a slip fault not a thrust fault as was Indonesia. Here is the data from the USGS.
