An excellent article! You are certainly correct about the
TIMES. You mentioned the Stalin terroristic regime but
do you know that the most prominent Western shill for the
Terror and the Gulags was TIMES reporter (and Pulitzer
winner) Walter Duranty? And to THIS DAY the TIMES refuses
to repudiate his proven mendacity. Even when he has been
exposed by such Soviet scholers as Robert Conquest, Adam
B. Ulam, and many others. It's true that the Leftist
TIMES has traditionally set the agenda for the rest of the
"mainstream media" but things are changing. They no longer
have their news monopoly. There is now, to just cite a few,
the Internat, talk radio, and more conservative journals.
And, I should add, journalists who have "been there" and
are now publishing books about media bias -- such as
Bernie Goldberg, McGowan, and others. I think the story
of CBS and Rather and its ratings is a metaphor on the
entire liberal media. And, yes, what you and I are doing
right now is a small part of it!
