I live in So Cal, and unless I won the lotto tonight, the only home I could buy is in another state . . . AZ is looking good.

That's for darn sure, it is the interest only mortgages that get people in. Wait what happens in three years when no one is there to pony up or get a million dollar place off of your hands.

Real Property Auctions through the US treasury are a fair example of national prices...check out the 2 costa mesa homes...

Actually, the government should do something.

Bah. It was the Liberal government's "doing something" that made this mess in the first place with all their "environmental preservation" laws. These laws were, naturally, authored and passed after the limousine liberals took over various prime real estate areas across California. This crap lead only to a shortage of development and was further exacerbated by the ridiculous regulations that do nothing but kill business in this state.

Sadly, the governor won't do squat about any of this. He's too busy adding another $6 BILLION dollars to the state's debt by sponsoring abortion via embyronic stem cell "research."

I hope California falls off into the ocean

New York is at greater risk of falling into the Atlantic than California is at risk of falling into the Pacific. Even in the event of a multiple-epicenter 10.0, California wouldn't fall into the Pacific; it'd just move closer to Anchorage, Alaska.

AZ is looking good.

AZ is being rapidly overwhelmed by California Liberals. Enjoy it while it lasts...(and it won't be much longer).

The coast is great. The Santa Barbara people are moving to my part of Ventura since it's the most affordable place near SB. I keep thinking how big and fancy a place I could afford in Texas with the profits if I sold this house...then I see the ocean closeby and forget moving back.

I guess I'd have to move to Hempstead (near the bus terminal) or Roosevelt if I wanted to buy on LI. I think I'll just get a condo in Brooklyn instead.

Meanwhile, houses are a dime a dozen down in South Carolina where my sister lives.

Report: California has nation's least affordable homes

Then how come they're so easy to sell?

LOL. A home just sold not far from us for 625k. Nice area, nice home. It sold in two weeks, with a full price offer.

Left off a 0 there!

http://money.cnn.com/2003/10/15/news/economy/realestate_newyork/?cnn-yes

Why do people feel the need to buy those tiny places, CA or FL or NY?
