All this time I just assumed if you ate 4 big macs a day and a chocolate cake for desert you would lose weight and get into olympic athlete shape.Thank god that the soviet collectivist nanny state do gooder democrats in congress and the sniveling homo weenies in the fda bureaucracy have shown me the error of my ways.What ever would I do without them ?
Calorie counts should be available, but not necessarily printed on a menu. No, big meals aren't good for you, but would you ever guess that a bloomin' onion is 2,800 calories?
Calorie or special diet information should be available on request.
BUT...
When I go out to eat; it's special and I do not want warning labels, calorie counts or any other pc stuff on my menu.
I can read "light" or "fish" or "chicken" for myself and that is just fine.
Why don't they just go ahead and put the labels on the food itself and get it over with.......
Ruby Tuesday tried printing the nutrition information on their menu for a short time. Believe it or not, but the steamed vegetable platter was higher in calories than the sirlion steak (400 vs. 300). In fact steak was by far the lightest fare, lower in calories than all the sides, salads etc. No wonder Atkins dieters lose weight.

Yes the government will think for you now, you do not have to worry -- we will tell you what to eat, when to eat it, and make sure you have no responsibility for getting fat -- that is the fault of the restaurant if you eat too much, and get fat!!!!!

As if printing the calories of every item, on the menu, will change the eating habits of the average American, and eliminate obesity.
IMHO, this is a big waste of money and time.
First, IIRC, everything has calories. If it doesn't, it ain't food. Fat versus protein would be a more helpful measurement.
Calories are not the monster that makes people overweight.
(Oh, look, the enviro-burger has only 500 calories. Give me five of em!, and a gallon of Coke)
It is not what we eat, it is how much, how often, and the amount (or lack) of excercise afterwards.

Get a grip. A "bloomin' onion" is NOT meant to be eaten by ONE person. More like 4-6 people.
I must be a freak cause I actually cook meals at home most of the time.

Sounds good to me. I try to patronize only restaurants that publicize calorie counts. I research the menus on the Web before eating. It's funny. A wallop of whipped cream is 24 calories at Denny's, but at Starbuck's it's like 250.
I'm starting to become like a freak like you! I havebeen cookin stuff at home lately and i think it tastes better than the stuff at the restaurant! !
Also there is no one to blame but themselves for getting fat. I don't care how these libs put it, but i balance what i eat because i know the consequence. It's not societies fault people shove food in their mouths, don't exercsise and sit around, get lazy and grow, and it's not us and restaurants whome should put labels on the food, even if you put how many pounds a spoon of something will add to you, people will still eat that shit because thats what they want to eat.
maybe all restaurants should have you sign a waiver declaring they are not responsible for your stupidity and lousy upbringing if you cant figure out eating 3000 calories a day and sitting typing on FR all day won't make you a fat ass
