"How does 6 new Republican Senators or a Senate majority of 62-46 or 64-44 sound?"
Not too good! I'd probably be living in the blue state of South Texas and Lloyd Dog Get would be one of my senators!

Switch, have you learned nothing from the 2004 redistricting? So long as the GOP controlls the state legislature and the governorship, we can draw the lines in a way that will maximize GOP gains. For example, if Texas was split into 4 states, there is no reason why Austin would have to be linked with the Rio Grande Valley; with the GOP in control, Austin would be in a state stretching to West Texas and the Permian Basin and would not include any part of South Texas. Incredible as it sounds, I have actually given this scenario some thought, and there was a thread about it on FR a few months ago. If the GOP split Texas into 4 states with 10 electoral votes each, we would be guaranteed 40 electoral votes for the GOP presidential candidate every four years and 8 GOP Senators from the 4 Texases.
Here is my post from a few months ago on the subject. Actually, the rest of that thread has some other good stuff too.
