QUOTE: ""...The government of the United States is committed to helping the people who suffer. We're committed today, and we will be committed tomorrow. The outpouring of support from the citizens of our country has been more than heartening."
"Most of you are members of this great organization, the United States Agency for International Development. Some of you are members of non-governmental organizations. All of you are playing an important role in that compassionate response. The world has taken notice, and the American people are grateful."
To date, our government has pledged $350 million in aid; private citizens have pledged approximately $337 million; and our military has spent $40 million to help the earthquake and tsunamis victims.

There are some FReepers who are without power and in other ways dealing with very bad weather, and I'm sure they would appreciate those of us who pray, remembering them in prayer.
Howdy.
Due to the time difference between east and west coasts, I was able to watch the President's appearanc at USAID live this morning. He received an oddly subdued, given that he's their boss, and he went to say thanks for their hard work. What ran through my mind is that they are a bunch of government employees who probably are mostly Dems.
Yowsah!
I made the first page (top 50!) with several posts to spare.
