Kid Rock Won't Perform at Inauguration Youth Concert
CNSNEWS.com ^ | 1/13/05 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - Rock artist Kid Rock will not perform at the youth concert for the presidential inauguration, and conservatives are applauding the news because of outrage at the content of his lyrics.

"We have been informed that Kid Rock will not perform," said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association.

According to Wildmon, over 100,000 people called and e-mailed the Presidential Inauguration Committee to voice their concerns over news that Kid Rock was invited to perform.

Wildmon said Kid Rock's lyrics focus on recreational sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation, both of which contradict the values of voters who support the president.

The rock artist also appeared in a porn film in 2000, the AFA noted.

"The majority of the GOP electorate would be more content living in the clean living Bedford Falls community depicted in the Christmas classic, It's A Wonderful Life, than in its antithesis, the hedonistic Pottersville."

Good analogy.

Who are you........a reincarnation of Oliver Cromwell?

I've never heard anything Kid Rock's sung.I couldn't pick him out of a lineup,if my life depended on it. But,at least I know that he isn't part of the MSM (MAINSTREAM MEDIA),which refers to NEWS sources such as CBSABCNBC and most newspapers. And since you brought it up,the MSM claimed that Kid Rock would be at one of the Inaugural balls, but today,in the N.Y. Post (which is a CONSEREVATIVE NEWS PAPER,FYI),it was stated by his representatives, that Kid Rock was NEVER going to be there in the first place.

There was a time, not all that long ago, really, when nobody,Conservative or Liberal, would vote for a divorced politician.Yet Conservatives,en mass, turned out to elect a divorced Ronald Reagan! So I think you really should rethink (if you ever "thought" about it in the first place!)your oh so rigid morality stance.

Would you rather the Dems had won every race this past election season, because YOU think that most of those who helped elect President Bush just aren't "moral" enough?

You are sure full of yourself.

This seems very important to you.

Why do you try to judge and condemn other people who don't think like you?

Open your mind.

Your projection complex is rather severe. Pity that.

This isn't "important" to me at all. The FACTS of the matter,OTOH,are important to me and should be to you.

Please read your own post (the one I replied to),and think about just what you wrote. Before trying to find the mote in someone else's eye, look to the gigantic beam in your own eye.

A closed minded person is telling someone else to "open their mind"? Not THAT really is funny ! LOL

The post you replied to is the only serious post on this thread.

It's something I've observed here over the past few years as FR became more popular and Bush won.

It was interesting how the posts and discussion became more coarse and pedestrian.

It struck me a somewhat of a cognitive dissonance that people who comport themselves in such vulgar manner, and indulge in the same mainstream interests that have come out of our entertainment society that is the child of the liberal 70's and and beyond, identify as conservative or Republican.

And, as I said, the converse is true. Some of the most loony left actually live very conservative lives.

It's interesting to me in that I'd never seen politics discussed and filtered through what can be likened to a sports paradigm. A lot of people seem to be a fan of Bush or the Republicans and root for them as if it is just another aspect of entertainment.

I'm glad the current pendulum is that many of these typical mainstream culturites vote Republican.

LOL! If I could only count the times I've used that same analogy!

Unfortunately, too much of the US has become like the hedonistic Pottersville!

Not having Kid Rock at an inaugural concert is hardly synonomous with eating our own.

Yes, you are. Pretty darn sorry.

You know nothing about that of which you speak.

"It works like this- come election time, the GOP pats their heads and tells them their opinions matter. Once we win the election, we can go back to safely ignoring them."

May I ask a few questions?

Are you a conservative?

What makes you think so?

Do you think that this brilliant strategy of yours will work for long?

Even if this group that you ridicule is only 10% of the GOP voters, do you really think that you can disparage them and still count on them to be there for you? If the GOP is winning by 1 or 2 or 3 points, is it smart to treat this 10% badly?

What if they don't show up to vote for the head patters? Will you blame them? Or place the blame where it belongs -- on the shoulders of people who think like you? Will you whine that they cost you the election?

"May I ask a few questions?"

No.

I will, however answer THIS question:

"Do you think that this brilliant strategy of yours will work for long?"

It's not a "strategy" and I'm not Karl Rove.

It's merely one man's opinion.

P.S. -- Thanks for your own two cents. I trust the piggy bank hasn't been broken.

The rats in the republican party screwed us again. Just because your "offended" or dont like his music dosent me others agree with you. Go Kid Rock!!! I bet if Michael W Smith was there those people would like it. No wonder kids my age are liberal... the Republicrat party makes people who arent major christians uncomportble. The RNC and Bush looking more and more like a joke. When will we have a conservative party not a christian "moral" party (the same people that you have to beg to vote).

A lot more dogmatism there in the "'Kid Rock' is great -- we hate Christians" side

Get over yourself.

I have never said Kid Rock is great, in fact I have stated I have never heard his music. And have never, ever stated I hated Christians.

You owe me an apology for your inference that I did either by pinging me to another piece of your stereotyping dreck.

I'm sorry. I should have been clearer. The questions were for Modernman. I'm on your side in this.

If what the attack dogs on this, and so many others, threads are saying is their view, I think that they are on the wrong board. I don't see anything conservative expressed by any of them, though they will make the claim that we are 'unappeasable' and 'purist' as though it were a bad thing. I do think that they are right, but I see that as a positive -- a badge of honor. There is nothing virtuous in surrendering principle.

If what they are saying about the direction of the GOP is correct, then the GOP would merely be Democrat Party II -- another party that stands for nothing. That would be a shame.

I'm not saying that I am against people enjoying their own self indulgent private moments. I'm quite libertarian in nature. (IIRC, they can be quite moralistic when it comes to some issues of freedom that they don't like.) I just don't think that those moments should be the defining image of the Party.

If, as they claim, we are not in the majority, we still have enough clout that they can't win without us. We may need them to win to enact a more conservative agenda but I think that we can survive a loss. Principle is what matters most to us and no one can take our principles away, even in defeat.

They, on the other hand, seek power for power's sake. They revel in that power and fear it's loss because they will not have anything else left.

I haven't read this thread. I was pinged to read your post. I saw what that person meant and replied to you.

Most Dem voters, who have a more conservative lifestyle, are blacks and white Dems, who come from Dem entrenched families, who don't think and don't pay any attention to politics.

I am NOT a "cheerleader" nor a GOP KOOL-AID drinker and certainly don't view politics as a sports' event. And I think your analysis is simplistic, supercilious, arrogant, and puerile;not to mention arrogant and self-serving.

I've been here a few scant weeks less than you,but lurked for almost a year before joining.Don't even try to lump me together with the newbie onslaught! LOL
