Kid Rock Won't Perform at Inauguration Youth Concert

(CNSNews.com) - Rock artist Kid Rock will not perform at the youth concert for the presidential inauguration, and conservatives are applauding the news because of outrage at the content of his lyrics.

"We have been informed that Kid Rock will not perform," said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association.

According to Wildmon, over 100,000 people called and e-mailed the Presidential Inauguration Committee to voice their concerns over news that Kid Rock was invited to perform.

Wildmon said Kid Rock's lyrics focus on recreational sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation, both of which contradict the values of voters who support the president.

The rock artist also appeared in a porn film in 2000, the AFA noted.

Your way of thinking is not conservative. It's libertarian. When you are fiscally conservative and socially liberal, then you are a libertarian. Conservatives are conservative across the board.

Okay, TJ, if I'm a libertarian and you are a conservative, where - as a conservative - do you want MORE governmental regulation?

I'm sorry, but just because you are a republican doesn't automatically mean you are fit to go on stage for the entire nation and represent the President.

The inaugural parties are private events given for supporters of the President to celebrate his election. They are NOT 'official' functions or 'PUBLIC' functions, nor do they 'represent' the President. Sometimes they're shown on TV, when the President shows up at them, but for the most part, no one sees them!

I didn't have a problem with Kid Rock at the concert for the young folks. We're not talking pre-teens and teenagers here; these are young ADULTS, who make their own decisions about the music they like. It's a shame folks got their knickers in a twist about it.

"As one of the 'leave me alone, damnit!' crowd I don't want any manner of social engineering from either the left or the right - and I certainly don't want it coming from the federal government. One of my favorite political quotes is 'Tax me a dollar a week for defense, and leave me the hell alone.'

On the score of taxes and gub'ment spending, I get it. You're "fiscally" conservative. We're in agreement.

But on the claim of "social engineering," HUH??? Are we reading the same newspapers and observaing the same court cases?

If ANY "social engineering" has occurred in the last 40 years, it's come FROM THE LEFT. And a hard Left at that.

The so-called "right" has merely begun to hold a fort held for 200 years without EVER enforcing any "theocracy."

Are you pro-abortion? Do you favor "gay marriage"? Do you favor sex taught in public schools at age 10? Do you support Marxism taught in American public schools? Do you favor income confiscation? LOOK LEFT.

"I just wish the theo-cons would understand that not everyone believes as they do: Not every American Patriot is a Christian. Not every American Patriot wants Big Brother telling us what to think, who to listen to, what to watch, etc. Regardless, I wish the theo-cons no harm, just a dash of intellectual maturity and understanding of political realism."

I don't know WHERE you get this distorted caracature of the fictional political T-Rex referred to as "theo-con," but you are dead wrong.

The religious/social conservatives are simply tired of having their values spit on and dismissed, and their votes and support taken for granted -- and WE'RE getting pretty p*ssed about IT, and the lack of respect for OUR values. Too many are buying into the bullsh*t of the propaganda of the MSM, Jerry Springer-type culture shoved down our throats, and the Robert Reichs of the world.

"To my way of thinking, conservatism means less governmental regulation in all areas of life. Does that make me un-American? Does that make me less patriotic?"

NO. NO. Do you have a specific beef about "government regulation" you'd like to get off your chest?

He's got a reading comprehension problems, I think. It's been explained many times, by many different people that we don't spit on their values at all! Heck, a lot of us share those values. They're seeing what they want to see, I guess. It's more fun to be the underdog or oppressed, I think. It appears to me that they feel they have a license to be rude because they see themselves as being under seige. I don't get it, myself. I certainly don't think they are wrong about the way things are going, but I don't think it's right to force changes on people...we don't tolerate it from the left, so why should we tolerate it from our own? I don't care to be called a hypocrite, personally, and that's what we would be if we advocated the same approach as the left.

I wonder if that's the song he was planning to sing at the Republican Inauguration.

So we're just prudes if songs like "Balls in Your Mouth" isn't the kind of music that Republicans should be promoting? I think even some non-prudes could believe that's kind of pushing things too far --- sure it's one thing to pander for the youth vote --- but to assume all you are listening to that kind of music is absurd.

Some who feel they "own" Pres. Bush and are able to manipulate the agenda based on their religious views.

My kids don't listen to Kid Rock --- and they don't like his kind of filth --- so who is trying to manipulate what agenda by trying to push his crap down everyone's throats? That kind of stuff appeals to only a certain subset of teens.

Republicans are not 'promoting' Kid Rock' when some folks hire him to play a party. This is NOT an official Republican party event, and frankly, if we're not the ones paying for the party, we don't have any right to butt in the decision. The people throwing the party are looking to sell tickets and get folks in the door, and having some lame musical act ain't gonna do the trick.

As I said before, I don't know much about Kid Rock, but I know I can't stand rap music. I think it's crap, and fortunately, so do my kids so we don't listen to it in our house.

"So who is trying to manipulate what agenda by trying to push his crap down everyone's throats?"

The "who" apparently is some our very "own."

I guess 'Kid Rock' represents the deliverer of their version of 'Sermon on the Mount' -- only the more hip, "keeping-it-real" version.

Luckily my kids want to listen to rock, maybe because that's what they grew up on --- I would forbid pop music in my house for reasons besides Kid Rocks songs about sodomy and Bill Clinton sex acts.

then whispered in my ear "I wanna swallow your ****" Well blow me up and then blow me down cuz I think i just found the biggest freak in town And now I can't wait to get her back to my house set her down on her knees and put my **** in her mouth

I read somewhere that it was actually just the Bush daughters invited him to play --- my opinion of them has gone down a few notches --- I thought before that they had a little more class.

We have been assured that a "true, pure" conservative can win.

Reagan proved that it is true. You don't need sodomy singers at the Republican convention. Why do you assume that all "cool" people would want to hear Kid Rock and "Balls in your Mouth"? Some "cool" people might not even think he is cool. Anyhow --- even the democrats have caught on that the Christian vote cost them the election --- so why should Republicans let go of it now?
