Kid Rock "Never Booked" at Bush Inaugural Concert
imdb.com news ^ | 1/13/05 | Unknown

Posted on 01/13/2005 6:02:13 AM PST by Iowegian

Organizers of President George W. Bush's inauguration are confused by reports Kid Rock has been ousted from the list of performers - because he was "never booked" in the first place. Kid Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, was recently the target of outrage from several conservative groups when it was reported the star might be included in the president's festivities. The Campaign For Children And Families sent out emails to 2.5 million supporters decrying the appearance. But organizers insist the rocker was never set to join Jojo and Hilary Duff as a performer at the January 18 youth concert, which will be hosted by Bush's twin daughters Barbara and Jenna. Tracey Schmitt, spokeswoman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee, says, "He was never booked... I don't know where this came from." Bush, who was supported by Rock during his heated election race against Senator John Kerry, will be inaugurated on January 20.

Yep. looks like Dandy Donnie Wild-Man and his acolytes trumped up a controversy to get their names in the papers.

Ever notice that you almost never hear of these "organizations" mentioned unless they put out press releases and foster division in conservative ranks?

The Left loves them. They do a LOT of their work for them.

If Rock was indeed considered, but dropped due to the "pressure" (from people who won't be there anyway), then more's the pity.

I posted this to my answer yesterday:
No Kid Rock at Bush concert

According to Drudge:
Bush Inaugural official responds: Says Kid Rock never booked; Praises star for active support of troops, USO... Developing...

Don't know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist. He wasn't asked to perform so he never was "kicked" from the Inaugural performance. I still think if the Bush girls wanted him there, then they are old enough to decide what and who they want to listen to.

Hilary Duff? OK, some of my genuine respect for Dubya just got chipped away...

Yes, I saw that yesterday. Unfortunately, it wasn't a reason to stop the KR bashing, I guess.

Kid Rock's publicist scored a publicity coup; got his name out there at minimal cost!

Wow, with entertainment of that kick-butt quality I don't feel that bad about not having connections to get invited or money to attend an official ball event.

That's right. And besides who needs Kid Rock? We've got Kid Huckabee.

"Don't know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist. "

Some people apparently LIKE to be "offended". Then they can whine about it.

If this is true, and I expect it is, then World Net Daily, the AFA, and all the others who propagated this nonsense should be ashamed of themselves.

If this is true, then it was all a big publicity stunt, and those involved in it should be embarrassed.

I guess they never thought to actually call Robert or his manager or publicist or fan club president or ......
I shoulda been a reporter. I didn't even go to Journalism school, and I'm quite SURE that I could do a better job than most of these lazy assed bums. Doesn't anyone actually verify anything any loger? Jezzy Creezy!

Do you mean Farah or Kid Rock?

Kid Rock did what few in Hollywood would - he supported Bush. That takes a lot of balls. If these so-called pro-family groups were trying to drum up a controversy on his back, then shame on them.

Frankly, I now wish someone would step forward and officially ask him to do the concert.
