ping.
Macs rule, PC's drool.
Geez. Use what you want.
Love my Mac! I'm not evangelic about it though. Some folks like the PC environment and thats just fine with me.
Yeah, well Macs suck. Just replaced mine with two Dells (actually three if you include the Pocket DJ). Much less panache. Much less cost. Much more usability. That's what I want. Thank you.
I'd buy a Mac, but I'm not gay.
Two reasons why people don't use MAC's.
1. Unfamiliarity
2. Economics
Why buy a MAC for $900 when you can buy a Dell for $349?
And most people have PC's, so that means your neighbor will probably be helpful (in screwing it up even more) because he is familiar with it.
3. They previously purchased a Mac, which effectively turned into a doorstop right after they took it out of the box.
Sorta goes back to my last line.
"nd most people have PC's, so that means your neighbor will probably be helpful (in screwing it up even more) because he is familiar with it."
Since no one else in the neighborhood has one, who's gonna help you with it? Apple?
That's it!
Maybe Jobs will come over and show you how to use it!
Nawwwh!
I understand the value of frugality but I am not a cheapskate and even though Macs do cost more than PC's they make up for it in saved productivity. For those in the creative arts, such as graphic design, desktop publishing, etc., nothing beats a Mac.
Unfortunately I have to use a PC at work (and it seems that I'm calling tech support for something or other at least once a month). I despise the stupid thing.
Because you get what you pay for.
That's not what it says on the walls of the ladies restroom at Apple, Inc. ...... ;^)
Having been involved with computers pre-Microsoft Windows (althought I did use a Microsoft Basic on a Tandy computer) I familiarized myself with the workings of the computer.
I spent endless hours 'crashing' the computer and doing everything possible to screw it up, just to see what the effects would be.
Even went so far as to introduce different 'viruses' on it to see the effects.
Having done that seems to have helped me cope with just about anything that Microsoft can throw.
I know the 'average' person probably wouldn't be this intense, but I've always believed if your going to operate a 'machine' you should be familiar with how it works.
But, that's just me I guess.
BTW! I have a Mac emulator on my computer and have experimented with it.
Problem is, most emulators run 'old' software, which make them obsolete as soon as you install them.
My Macintosh simply died on me after a few years - and at that point, it wasn't worth anything beyond its scrap part value. Sure, I've had PCs that stopped working after many years of devoted service - but I didn't pay $1000 + for them either.
Details on the model of Mac you got rid of, the cost for the new Dells, and the usability that you weren't getting from the Mac that the Dells offer. If the answer is "Games", then that one word answer will be sufficient. If that's not the answer, then I'm curious what it is.
gemulator?
I don't have security problems on my Windows machine either. Then again, I don't open email attachments from people I don't know.
