Kerry to Al Azhar Grand Imam: Washington commited terrible mistakes in Iraq Egypt-USA, Politics, 1/13/2005
Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif received on Wednesday John Kerry, the US Senator and former presidential hopeful.
In statement following the meeting, Kerry, currently visiting Egypt as part of his tour of the Middle East, said the meeting with Nazif dealt with Egyptian efforts in the fields of economy, trade and technology, as well as developments in the Middle East and Iraq.
For his part, Cabinet spokesman Magdi Radi said that Nazif reviewed with Kerry economic reforms which were being carried out by the Egyptian government.
During the meeting, Nazif highlighted the legitimate Palestinian rights and the US role in helping resume Palestinian- Israeli peace negotiations.
Meantime, Kerry admitted that the US committed terrible mistakes in Iraq. During a meeting on Wednesday with grand Imam of Al Azhar Mohamad Sayed Tantawi, Kerry regretted the difficult conditions in Iraq.
The Grand Imam urged all Iraqis to take part in the coming elections to be held on January 30. On his part, Kerry appreciated Al Azhar's prestigious position all over the world, pointing out that there was a common ground between Islam and Christianity.
The Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi announced on Sunday [2 November] that suicide-bombers who are defending their land are seen as martyrs in Islamic shari'ah law.
Anybody blowing himself up in the face of an the occupiers of his land is a martyr, said Shaykh Tantawi in response to a question about the Islamic shari'ah stance over the Palestinians who blow up their bodies against the Israelis.
He stressed, however, that Islam did not allow the killing of innocent civilians and children but only invaders and aggressors.
Suicide attacks on the US-led coalition in Iraq are "permitted under (Islamic) religious law," the sheikh of Al-Azhar, the highest Sunni Muslim spiritual authority, Mohammed Sayed Tantawi, said here Saturday.
"Martyr operations against the invading forces are permitted under religious law," he said, quoted by the official MENA news agency.
Tantawi described the invasion of Iraq to oust the regime of Saddam Hussein as "an unjust aggression".
"Whoever attacks others, spilling blood, harming the other's honour and land is a terrorist," he added, referring to the US-led coalition.
Is there any foreign a$$ he won't kiss?
Kerry is as much a disgrace now as he was thirty years ago.
Surely there is some law that would see him barred from sitting in the Senate (on those rare ocassions when he actually does!).
"Anybody blowing himself up in the face of an the occupiers of his land is a martyr, said Shaykh Tantawi in response to a question about the Islamic shari'ah stance over the Palestinians who blow up their bodies against the Israelis."
Then why doesn't this camel humper blow himeself up while in the presents of the Lurch? After all Lurch was occupying his land as they talked. Two bozos for the price of one.
If John Kerry is not a traitor, he is something very like it.
When will he be tried for treason? He is worse than Benedict Arnold.
Same old P.O.S.
Kerry is now showing his true stripes. It was this behavior during Vietnam that has earned him my loathing and hatred. The Rats insulted a lot of people by nominating this jerk. And, Kerry shows no indication of even caring who or what he insults with his narcissistic behavior. I am starting to get steamed....better leave it at that.
Once again, Kerry betrays his nation.
Can we just ship that treasonous sumbitch to France and get it over with already?
Yep. Benedict Arnold was actually a genuine American hero before he was against America.
Nice seeing you again!
Pray for W and Our Troops
Hey, SB! Been a while. How you been?
I'm finally getting my vision back and I hope to start making parodies again soon. Was a real rough patch for a while there.
Once a Traitor ! The question is who will PARDON his ass this time?
Je suis comment vous dites l'écume déloyale?
