Ping for a tremendous read!
Victor Davis Hanson: The Voice of Reason. I get the "Weekly Standard" and I think it is very tacky the way Kristol and Kagan are dumping on Rumsfeld.

I have to disagree with Professer Hanson on this point...
Okinawa was the worst of all operations, and yet was begun just over fourth months before the surrender without any planning for Kamikazes who were shortly to kill 5,000 American sailors.
The US tried several tactics to blunt the effects of the kamikize raids, increased the fighters on the carriers and raids on Japanese irfields are but two of the tactics the the US used to counter the kamakize.
However as we found out in WWII and have been relearning in the fight against the islamofascits is the question.
"How do you defend against an enemy who thinks it is his duty to die for the cause"?
A medium nit to pick but one that sticks in my mind.

In my opinion, a big reason for continued Baathist and terrorist resistance in Iraq is the encouragement they get not just from Europeans, but especially from the American Left and media. All of whom are motivated, like the insurgents, by their desire for power.
