As to natural law, it has ne bearing on a state that already exists unless you are making the case for overthrowing it.

Overthrow it? Not hardly.

As for natural law having no bearing on a state that exists, natural law is the reason our COUNTRY exists!

Christianity is part of the Common, or Natural Law. Therefore it is Christianity that is the basis of our government. Religion of any other type is not synonymous with the American experience of Liberty!"

God . . . is the promulgator as well as the author of natural law.
Justice James Wilson, a signer of the Declaration, the Constitution, Original Justice on the U. S. Supreme Court, and the father of the first organized legal training in America.

[T]he laws of nature . . . of course presupposes the existence of a God, the moral ruler of the universe, and a rule of right and wrong, of just and unjust, binding upon man, preceding all institutions of human society and government.
John Quincy Adams

The law of nature, “which, being coeval with mankind and dictated by God Himself, is, of course, superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe, in all countries, and at all times. No human laws are of any validity, if contrary to this.
Alexander Hamilton, Signer of the Constitution

Of course natural law is the basis for establishing new states apart from England. But we live in states that have their own constitutions. These states were created by individuals who exchanged their right to live apart from any state for the right to live in a state. The only way for them to reclaim their rights under natural law is to overthrow the current government, which is their right.

What's the story on Denver's smoking bans?

Not bad as of yet, but they're still trying to kill it all over.

This John William Smith is not this JOHN WILLIAM SMITH.

John William Smith is a natural blooded person. JOHN WILLIAM SMITH is a fiction created by the STATE. All legal documents including licenses use the STATE fiction name. In a court of law John William Smith represents JOHN WILLIAM SMITH just as his lawyer represents JOHN WILLIAM SMITH. JOHN WILLIAM SMITH is the defendant. The government doesn't have the power to impose fines or incarcerate John William Smith.
