If you take out the ways that either religion has been "used" to advocate the jealous desires of kings, tyrants, and general-purpose oppressors over the years, it still becomes an issue of how the religion demonstrates its core beliefs. Take the tsunami in Southeast Asia, for example. Which country was first on the scene with a massive aid effort? A predominantly Christian one.
And what did we see from the Saudis, the Iranians, the Kuwaitis, the Egyptians, etc? Scorn that the United States wasn't doing more.
Who are working to commit genocide in Africa against Christians? Islamists.
Who are blowing up trains, cities, ships, and people attempting to provide a liberated Iraq? Islamists.
We are at war with a brutal religion. Attempting to say otherwise is wishful thinking.
