The famed novelist, Michael Crichton, may achieve what mountains of scientific data produced by meteorologists and others have not. He may get the public to understand that the UN Kyoto Climate Control Protocol is, itself, a work of fiction.
His novel, State of Fear, (HarperCollins, 603 pages, $27.95) is a technopolitical thriller based on the widely ignored data that global warming is a hoax, but worse than that, it is a hoax specifically designed to harm the lives and the economy of people living in industrialized nations. It may well be the first novel to come complete with a section devoted to the data that demonstrates not only how false global warming is, but the impact it would have if the UN Protocol was strictly enforced.
When first proposed, the U.S. Senate unanimously rejected the global warming treaty and, in his first term, President George W. Bush withdrew the Kyoto Protocol from consideration in 2001. If this action had not been taken and the treaty applied to the U.S., the country would have been required to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 7 percent below its 1990 level. They only way to achieve this would have been to impose strict energy use limits.
Take away energy or greatly reduce it and you create the conditions for an economic disaster and impact the lives and health of Americans from coast to coast. You invite draconian "solutions" such as limiting the use of air conditioning, gas rationing, and how many hours factories can operate. . . . .

Enforcing Kyoto in the USA would be political suicide for whoever tried to do it.
On the upside, there'd be an economic boost for rope makers as every lampost in America would be decorated with a liberal.

Chicago Boyz Blog has a good discussion of Global Warming called "Putting Global Warming In Perspective".

Thanks for the link.
I have been impressed with Michael Crichton's technical prowess for a long time. Just what is needed to bring some balance to the wacko eco-leftists in the entertainment world. The incredible bull...t in "The Day After Tomorrow" type movies needs correcting, I hope he sells a screenplay.
Read Chricton's book, enjoyed it a lot. Somewhat outside his usual formula, which is a nice change. IMO, he did us all a service by publishing this.
Like always, follow the money is the rule.
Just imagine most EU countries would come clean and tell their citizens the truth. Billions of dollars they reap through their ecology taxes would have to be abandoned.
We, in the US, are paying a great deal toward clean Air. As a matter of fact, it is the second largest expenditure next to wages in this country.
The UN/EU just want to tell us to adopt their rules and as a result get payments from the American Taxpayer.
I look at the "environmental" movement as more a political movement than a scientific one, in spite of the fact that there are scientists who are believers. Like all of the "causes" adopted by the Left, it is a lever to ram socialism down our throats. The fact that all the "environmentalists" are lefties tells me something just by itself.
agreed, Just imagine we would get rid of all carbon monoxide(it is impossible, I know), all the trees would die. :-)
I would bet that the enviro-whack jobs and the MSM will just ignore the facts. Look at how Kerry is going around feeding the left-wing nut base with his claims that 'thousands of minority voters' were disenfranchised. He is doing it today and the is NO ONE in the MSM or anywhere else that is contradicting these whackos!
I grew up in a very rural area, and have always loved "nature," ever since I was a kid. I'm something of an outdoorsman, fisherman and hunter, and I have to say, these city bred socialist so called lovers of the environment, they don't give a damn for the environment, to them it's all about power - those people really piss me off.
So trees need CO? I guess they must produce it then?
trees need carbon monoxide and replace it with oxygen.
Where'd they get the CO before we started helping them with auto emissions?
animal and human farts, methane etc.?
Plants become Oxygen breathers when in the dark, and exhale Carbon Dioxide. When the sun comes out, then photosynthesis kicks back in. All a grand accident of nature, don'tcha know. <(¿)>
