An armored Humvee flipped over and plunged into a canal in western Baghdad, killing an American soldier, the U.S. command said.

I have seen several news regarding vehicles falling into canals and it puzzled me until I found out the road on the sides of canal in Iraq were narrow and hard to drive. I think it's time to drive Unmanned Ground Vehicles and fly Unmanned Aerial Vehicles over the narrow roads on the sides of canal. If anyone is going to Iraq and given missions to patrol on the roads of canal, be aware.

About time. As soon as Fallujah was cleaned out, terrorists settled in Mosul - lending some credibility to the 'not enough boots on the ground' criticism. See Rich Lowry's latest Corner post for some details on the problems there.

Put a division north of Mosul to pick off those fleeing while the Zoomies and Gunships lay down some heavy Predator~Assissted Airborne Urban Renewal.

Then send another divison backs by helos, artillery and armor to engage what's left of the city from the south.

Jack.
