WRC, WTOP
Posted on 01/18/2005 1:14:44 PM PST by libtoken
There appears to be a police standoff in the area of 15th and H St NW. Reports conflict, but one version has it being a standoff between authorities and someone in a van at that location ((a couple of blocks from the White House)).

Keep us updated; I wonder if it was someone trying to disrupt the Inaugural.

Well, if it was a Jihadi, there would have been no standoff... KABOOM.

All sorts of idiots crawl out of the woodwork during major events. However, it's not clear if this is a case of hypervigilance by the authorities or something else.

If it's really a stand-off, that doesn't sound benign.

Unless of course he wanted to get closer to the white house in which case he may just wait until he can get as many cops there as possible and then kaboom.

Could be something. Probably isn't. These things usually aren't. I'll get excited later, perhaps, if something happens.

I wouldn't screw around in DC right now. They have lots of MLRS systems in place.

Better to be safe than sorry. These folks must be super-vigilant this week.

It's TaRAYzuh trying to go pick out curtains. Has she told the Secret Service to go shove it yet?

For those of you still stuck downtown, the action appears to be actually at 15th and Pennsylvania, and 15th has been shut off northbound at Constitution. No word on where the southbounders have to turn off 15th.
