that would be WestCoastGal, who said:

From some OTHER site... (can't mention) They monitor all the arabic terror/islam boards.

"Islamic Terror sites claiming "The Horserace is on - while they chase the horses, the bird will fly"

Yes, it's likely the photos being given out was part of the wild goose chase plan.

The Chinese involvement doesn't surprise me. They are a country that is every bit as lunatic as NKorea. The difference is that China has more resources and affluence.

Their regular military deals in the impractical, impossible, "they would never do such a thing" mentality. Who would ever have thought that a Chinese jet pilot would plow into an American Recon plane in international airspace, and they would hold the downed airmen for several weeks and interrogate them...lol, well they did it.

The wierd thing is...if the regular PLA would do this, would would the Chinese Intel and Covert Ops guys do? The impractical and improbable do not exist to the Chinese government.

Glad to know that others, such as yourself, see the possibilities there. Surely if us regular folks can suggest such a plan, then our men & women who protect us will have already thought of that as well.

I suspect when we find these four they will not be moving....Dead people do not talk.....The terrorist will use them then silence them....It would be to their own advantage to seek help.

But what would that accomplish? The mere mention of a nuke is going to put everything and everyone under suspicion. Why would they even bother to use decoys? If something is in place they simply strike. I think the informant story is a decoy promoted by the feds to hide another source.

I'm not sure if the Chinese are involved in this situation, but if it turned out they were, it wouldn't exactly shock me silly. In this particular situation, there is no proof yet that these four people are anything but pictures on passports. Definitely a rather unnerving situation right now.

Yes; but it's also good to know that just because the information is fishy, or "doesn't make sense" they don't dismiss it out of hand. Must keep minds open. : )

This is one of those moments when I feel compelled to write an email to my friendly neighborhood Chinese embassy in WashDC, and ask them to explain themselves immediately.

lol...they'll probably be up all down there tonight anyway, they might as well read some charmingly indignant email.

Also a possibility.

I also wonder, "what would that accomplish?" Yes, the mention of this has sent security forces scurrying and you wouldn't think they would want to have their plans "leaked", so to speak. But, what if they feel they have a plan in place that cannot fail, and are merely playing cat and mouse until they decide to attack elsewhere? Ah, I don't know anything....just playing detective like everyone else.

It's pretty tough to get out of China without Government approval and government objectives.

CNN just reported that a San Diego spokesperson is downplaying the situation saying that the story got out prematurely. The suspects are thought to have unspecified materials.

"Chinese Brothers Indicted in Smuggling Scheme"

...So that precludes the possibility of the Chinese government being involved?

So the plot thickens....hmmmm, don't know what to make of that. It's -45 here so even if this turns out to be a false alarm, it will have kept me at the computer, near the woodstove. :)
