The woman once known as "Jane Roe" has asked the Supreme Court to overturn its landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion 32 years ago.
Norma McCorvey, whose protest of Texas' abortion ban led to the 1973 ruling, contends in a petition received at the court Tuesday that the case should be heard again in light of evidence that the procedure may harm women.
"Now we know so much more, and I plead with the court to listen for witnesses and re-evaluate Roe v. Wade," said McCorvey, who says she now regrets her role in the case. The politically charged issue comes before the court as both sides gird for a possible bitter nomination fight over Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist's replacement should the ailing justice retire this term. At least three justices, including Rehnquist, have said Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided and should be overturned.
Two lower courts in Texas last year threw out McCorvey's request to have the ruling reconsidered.
But in a strongly worded concurrence, 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge Edith H. Jones criticized the abortion ruling and said new medical evidence may well show undue harm to a mother and her fetus.
The last major abortion decision by the Supreme Court came in 2000, when the court ruled 5-4 to strike down Nebraska's ban on so-called "partial-birth" abortion because it failed to provide an exception to protect the mother's health.
Justices since then have shown little interest in wading back into the emotional issue.
If even conservative media insist on referring to Partial Birth Abortion as "so-called," can we at least begin reffing to pro-abortionists as "so-called 'pro-choice' advocates?
When they say the court "legalized abortion," what they fail to tell us is that it didn't merely "legalize" the barbaric procedure the way it did the death penalty; rather, it forced the states to permit it - at any time, for any reason, and by any procedure.
Unless the U.S. Constitution contains a "right" to abortion written in invisible ink, the very unsupreme court trampled all over the will of the people and their elected lawmakers. Judicial arrogance at its worst.
They are very definitely "so-called" pro-choicers. Many of them are decidedly anti-choice about smoking, seat belts, gun rights, school choice, etc.

SDO has become part of the liberal wing with her embracing international law in her judgements.
IMHO, this case might do better before a new court.
It would be nice to think ANY court would rule the wholesale slaughter of innocent human beings illegal.
THIS is the court that opened the doors to homosexual marriage by tossing out the sodomy laws.... SDO and her love of International Law made the difference.

Norma was on Hannity's radio show yesterday. She recommended a website for help on the issue -

Very strange - a Google search for Operation Outcry came up -

I just tried and up it came first time.
Must be just me. (Would've made a GREAT conspiracy theory - eh?)
I was reading some testimonials today from different nurses and doctors who were involved in abortions in the past. The practice of it even hurts them. It was just a question of time before it hit them. Some got it right away, some took years. God has plenty of time for those that don't.
One of the better ones of late...
