The Detroit News' front page coverage of the inaugural speech includes four quotes from Michiganians about the speech. Two are pro-president Bush and two are anti-president Bush.
"I thought he did a good job. He basically said freedom isn't free." Anne Stevens, 40
"I think the speech was outstanding. Bush seems to be in touch with the country's needs." John Hughes, 70
And then...
"I think the entire inauguration for Bush... is a total waste of millions of dollars when we have people overseas serving in a war." Troy Williams, 19
"It's a little crazy to spend that kind of money. ...he's already had one inauguration." Shannon Bakeman, 24

I find it interesting that the two who are bashing Bush can't find anything to say about the actiual speech. Either they liked it and can't bring themselves to admit it or they didn't even listen to it.

My source, a native of Michigan, assures me that one who inhabits the state is a michigander.

I wonder what wise ole' Troy thought of the millions Hollywood spends on classics that he enjoys like "The Fockers" and "White Chicks"

Your source is incorrect. It is common to hear Michigan residents referred to as Michiganders, but the proper term is Michiganian.

I bet the 24 year old was perfectly fine with the State of Mich. and City of Detroit spending $500 mil+ on a duplicative and totally un-necessary football stadium.

Inauguration Day; the one day liberals have sympathy for the troops or show concern for fiscal restrain. "All that money should be spent on meeeeeee..."

Rush Limbaugh covered this yesterday..In today's dollars, the Bush Inauguration cost 25% less than the Clinton Inauguration, which the MSM and their supporters enjoyed for days.

The only unnecessary football stadium in the state is the one located in Ann Arbor.

From DU...proving the point that - they hear it but...
just...
don't...
get it
"America knows best and will bring the darkest corners of the world freedom for their own good; they will be free and will see the error of their ways; they will submit to liberty through death and destruction if necessary. America is the iron fist of freedom, the all-knowing power that will decide the fate of the world. You are either with us or against us. Resistance is futile; submit to freedom."
BTW, I was born and raised a Michi-gander. Truthbetold, I will usually use the term "Mitten-gander"

I guess it could be either.
Michiganian or Michigander?
The Web site of the Michigan Historical Center uses Michiganian. Michiganian has a long history. It is the term used for the state's citizens in The Collections of the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Society since the 1870s and in Michigan History magazine since just after the turn of the 20th century. But people who call Michigan their home use the word they like best, and there is no "official" term.
