I agree with Peggy Noonan that the inauguration was "God drenched". While her remark is a criticism, I see it as high praise for all who made it possible. I taped the hymn sung by Susan Graham, Bless This House, and "The American Anthem", sung by Denyce Graves, and have listened to them several times now to let the words sink in. " Bless This House", America of course being the House, was a magnificent prayer to start the ceremonies, and "The American Anthem" was one of the most patriotic and inspirational songs I have heard in years. Both ladies are blessed with such beautiful voices and sang with a straightforwardness that was particularly appealing to me. It was quite a God drenched day for sure, what with early church services, prayers at breakfast and lunch and the inauguration speech itself. It appears to me that George Bush was reminding the anti Christians who have been bent on taking God out of our national life that God is still front and center with this President.

It's interesting you mention the music because Noonan didn't like that either and called it "defensive" as in someone chose it so as not to offend.
