Bush sends Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims around world:
[World News]: Washington, Jan 22 : US President George W Bush has greeted Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, saying that the "kindness and charity" practiced by the community during this period exemplify the "compassionate spirit" that makes the world a better place.
"I send greetings to Muslims around the world as you celebrate Eid al-Adha. Abraham's sacrifice and service to God teach us the importance of devotion, and God's mercy encourages us to share His blessings with others," Bush said in a statement.
He said the "kindness and charity practiced by Muslims during this holiday strengthen friendships, help those in need, and exemplify the compassionate spirit that makes America and the world a better place.
"As Americans of Muslim faith celebrate Eid al-Adha, our nation is reminded of the contributions that Muslim Americans have made to our religious and cultural heritage. Your values of family, service, and community enrich our society and reflect the ideals on which our country was founded." Bush said his wife Laura joins him "in sending our best wishes for a joyous celebration." PTI
Great.
Hmm.. I'd be curious to hear details about what that might be..
Ugh.

Shriners?
Building over 1200 "mosques"?
If we asked W to elaborate on Muslim achievements, we'd hear nothing but "Ummmmmm Ummmmmmmmmm Ummmmmmmmm" in response.

This thread should be lovely.
I guess if members of CAIR can pretend to be good Americans, President Bush can pretend to be an islamophile.
I can buy into the nice/nice to a certain point, but this kind of a statement is an absolute slap in the face of the relious movement that gave us the nation we have today.
I'm not trying to give credit to one religion, but it was Christianity and the search for religious freedom that drove our forefathers.
The Moslem regligion simply doesn't teach the same freedom. If anything it preaches some of the most represive tenets to haunt mankind from the beginning of time.
Sorry Mr. President, I can't join you on this one. Wish them well if you like and I'll join you. Equate them with contributing to what this nation is today, and we're going to part ways right there.
I'd like to remind you of the drastic changes in this nation since 09/11. Those were a direct result of the Moslem contribution to our nation, the only one I'm privy to at this time.
Greetings from Dubya and the American People:
I hope this message finds you incarcerated in Abu Graib where we infidels can place womens panties on your heads and poke fun at your less than adequate manhood.
From our Military to your Jihadist: May the fires of Hell find you before we do.
Cheers,
Dubya
I guess I don't care whether GWB goes through the motions of "Reaching Out" to moozelims as long as he doesn't do anything to stop us from killing them whenever they start practising their religion by beheading us.
It bothers me a lot more that we refrain from blowing mosques to smithereens when the ragheads hole up in them, than do any of Bush's pronouncements.
Moreover, if the ragheads keep up their holy divine worshipful killing of anyone who won't convert, even in the face of our President's attempts at reconciliation, it makes them look even worse.
But somehow, despite all of the above, I just get this visceral feeling of revulsion whenever I hear *anyone* treating islam as though it's worthy of inclusion among the other religions of the world.
Yeah, like terrorism, beheadings and stabbing Copts to death in New Jersey.
Islam is a mental disease.
Indeed. For instance, are there any Muslim charities in the US (soup kitchens, food shelves, rent asst., etc.) that help non-Muslims?
Many Muslim "charities" in the US were fronts for funneling money to terrorists also.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the president sends Easter and/or Good Friday greetings to "the Christians of the world", and if so, where I can find them? Whatever "Eid al-Adha" is to Muslims, Easter is the most important Christian holiday, definitely joyous (like Eid al-Adha is--according to President Bush) and definitely solmen. (Redemption is very joyous, and so is Christ's triumph over sin and death; but the brutal killing of an innocent Man for guilty others is--well, beyond any words I, at least, can think.) I would wonder, though, if the White House would praise an obscure Muslim holiday and ignore the holiest Christian holiday. These may, as G. K. Chesterton said, be the days when a Christian is expected to praise every creed but his own.
?! I thought the Shriners were Freemasons.
President Bush sends a shout out.
