Prosecutors have obtained photographs of a Springfield Township couple's neopagan tattoos in an effort to match the markings to puncture wounds on the woman's slain year-old daughter. Daniel Duffield and Vanessa McGlumphy are charged in connection with the neck-snapping death of McGlumphy's 13-month-old daughter Jacqueline Mae Cooper.
Aside from the fatal neck injury, the toddler's body was also riddled with more than 40 puncture wounds, 12 broken ribs and a lacerated liver. Prosecutors last week received permission from Summit County Common Pleas Judge Marvin Shapiro to photograph the couple to determine whether their religious tattoos match puncture wounds that appear on the toddler's feet.
According to court records, the child had puncture wounds on her foot in the shape of a Wicca or Celtic symbol.
In addition, prosecutors say that Duffield and McGlumphy told investigators that they wanted to raise the girl in their Wiccan faith, an earth-based religion sometimes called ``The Craft´´ or the ``The Craft of the Wise.´´
Duffield told investigators that he placed the Wiccan pentacle symbol on the girl's feet, prosecutors say. Photos of the couple's markings were taken last week at the Summit County Jail, where the two are being held. Duffield's tattoos include a skull and dagger, an anarchy symbol, a demon and a Celtic cross, prosecutors say. McGlumphy's include a goat head, Medusa and a she-devil.
Prosecutors say a needle containing the child's DNA was found near her crib around the time of her death. The child's puncture wounds, prosecutors contend, are evidence of abuse at the hands of Duffield and proof that McGlumphy ignored the girl's injuries. ``For (McGlumphy), Wicca is nothing but an appreciation and love of nature,´´ said defense lawyer Tom Adgate, who represents the woman. Adgate said his client ``didn´t notice -- and she didn´t condone´´ -- the symbol puncture wounds. ``And she doesn´t know when it was done.´´
Duffield's lawyers could not be reached for comment. Duffield, 32, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, child endangering and felonious assault involving puncturing the girl's feet and face. McGlumphy, 25, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangering. Each has pleaded not guilty.
Both are scheduled for trial Monday, but Duffield has asked for a delay to allow his lawyers more time to prepare for trial. Shapiro is expected to rule on the request in a hearing.
The toddler died Oct. 6 from either a dislocation at the top of the spine -- from blunt impact to the head -- or a ``hyperextension/hyperflexion´´ of the neck, according to autopsy reports.
On Tuesday, a juvenile court judge granted temporary custody of the girl's twin sister to McGlumphy's father. The arrangement was agreed to by the child's biological father.

I guess the only way you can make a "point" is by twisting my words. I clearly said that only a "tiny number" of Christians killed abortionists, not "millions" as you falsely state.
But of course, then my post would make sense, and you wouldn't be able to argue with it.
You know, Lindy, I really wanted to respond. I actually began to consider your statements, see just what, if anything, about them I disagreed with, and considered the responses possible. I was preparing to put my thoughts in as good an order as possible to post a decent and polite response. I wanted to not only offer counterpoints, but rebuttals where necessary. I noted some weaknesses in your hoped-for points, and wished to make them known, in the spirit of honest debate.
Then, I read your further posts here. Particularly, the ones about Buddhists (and that is the correct spelling, BTW). I then went back and read your original posts in that context. I wound up slapping my head.
You see, it was like being at a dinner party with aquaintances, and having the hostess say at some point, "You know, it's really too bad about those Jews...they're all going to Hell, you know...". You realize in your discomfort two things...one is that you should have seen it coming a mile off, and the other is that the only reasonable response is NOT to debate the issue, but to simply rise, take your spouse's hand, and depart.
You have been posting things which lead to some ugly conclusions about you on my part...one such being that you have NEVER in your life met a Buddhist, and are completely ignorant of their faith. The other is that you are a complete bigot, albiet a religious, as opposed to racial, one. Actually, the two frequently go together so often I'm not sure about the second.
I've known many decent, honest, and truly uplifting Christian people in my life. Some have offered me comfort and prayers in dark times when they KNEW I did not follow their faith. They did it just because they were good people, not to proseletize. At no time did they EVER feel the need to promote Christianity by trashing OTHER religions. They instead told of what was GOOD about their own. Apparently, your faith is not so strong.
No matter. I'll not waste argument, words, or effort on one such as you. They'd be totally ignored regardless of the points made. You would consider yourself too "holy" to listen. Most like you do.
No doubt, you'll now claim some sort of victory. Feel free to do so if it gives you more comfort in your little world. However, many people have read your words as I have. Now, some more have. We know you now, and how to regard your arguments. All I'll say is that you need to grow up, and quit reading the hate-filled crap you obviously do.
Both should be scheduled for a thorough and fatal thrashing at the hands of very violent people!

I don't know how many stories I've read about Christian exorcisms going wrong and killing children, or of snake-handlers getting themselves killed. Some christians think medecine shouldn't be given to their kids - that God should heal. Some Christians go crazy and kill their children because they think they are posessed (kinda like exorcism, but parent inflicted). I've known Wiccans, and they really are "out there", but these child killers would be deplored by Wiccans. As well the Tattoos.

There are times around here (and they are getting more and more regular) when the line betwixt religious enthusiasm and religious bigotry gets blurred. I am actually surprised to see one so easy to determine.
Let your children pierce themselves, when they are older if they want to...NOT when they are infants.
That's your personal opinion, but that doesn't mean it's endangerment!!! What makes you think piercing an infant's ears is ENDANGERMENT? I'm sorry, but that is waaaaayy over the top.

BTW, you do know that those piercing guns cannot be steralised in regular sterilising units? In fact most of them are just wiped down with some class of detergent.
Unfortunately that doesn't always kill the hepatitis virus.
I wouldn't risk that with any child of mine.....and certainly not in the pursuit of vanity.
I learned about the Crusades on my own, long before my teachers ever got to it. Crusaders were heroes to me...

What I think is it that it's none of my business, as it does nothing to harm the child. I don't have a girl, so technically I don't have a dog in that one, but if I did, we would, in fact, pierce her ears. My mother pierced mine, and no harm came to me from it.
I certainly don't think someone would have had the right to come and take me away because she chose to have my ears pierced without my consent, and that's what tossing around the word "endangerment" can lead to. You aren't adovocating THAT, are you? What about circumcision? That removes a male child's foreskin...this is usually done when the baby is only a day or two old. That's quite a bit more intense than ear piercing, wouldn't you say? Do you think he provided consent? JFT, one of my boys is, and the rest aren't. That was my choice as a parent.
What about circumcision?
