I believe that Oregon National Guard troops have taken more casualties as a percentage then those from any other states. (Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Our guys are right out there on the front lines serving our country honorably while the Marxists back home stab them in the back.

I am familiar with their sacrifices since they are attached to my home state's brigade. Being used to my guys working primarily with Southern units, I was a little concerned about them getting tied up with a bunch from the Pacific Northwest. My bigotry was misplaced. They have definitely shouldered their share of the burden and more and are appreciated here.

I understand your initial concern; to the rest of the country Oregon tends to look like a bunch of nutcases. However, we aren't as much of a blue state as some people believe. We used to be fairly conservative, but I suspect that the mass of Californians moving up here skewed us to the left quite a bit. The good news is that we are trending back towards conservative again.

Check out this graph of the voter registration split over the year:

There are still a lot of decent people here, especially if you get away from Portland, Eugene, or Ashland.
