I understand what you are saying. I've seen Barbara Boxer over a 30 year span. She was an attractive woman, she is now a bitter woman. It shows on her face, and in her demeanor.

I've seen very homely women as beautiful, and because their beauty was lit from within -- and this applies to older women, too, IMHO. I find some older women far more beautiful than many who are younger; that thing about character and grace written on the lines of her face; dittos with older men. The youth culture of beauty and tautness, alone, just doesn't do it for me. Boxer has spent so many years frowning and brawling -- it shows, in the lines of her face. My own face? I have a wee horizontal line between my brows -- from years of trying to make sense of liberals, but then this is balanced out by the crows feet around the outer edge of my eyes from laughing a great deal! :)
