Furthermore, Specter cut a backroom deal with the editorial board of the Philadelphia Inquirer that in exchange for their endorsement of his reelection, he would do everything possible to keep pro-life judicial nominees from being approved, and I believe he has every intention of keeping his end of this Faustian bargain. He's out for himself and doesn't care a whit about President Bush or the at-large Republican party.
