Adversity builds character... there's a reason Californians are so mushy-brained.

Hey, maybe you guys will get another 4 months of this, and you can really build some character!

Just pulling your frozen leg.

Stay warm.

“Climate change in Antarctica is a warning of the globally catastrophic changes that will follow unless we act now.”

I'm sure he would have said the same thing about Greenland 500 years ago had he been around.

Plumbers probably had atleast $14 in parts ya know! ;-)

When I lived in Houston we always had to be aware of a hard freeze and make sure to keep the faucets dripping ... the houses weren't built for that kinda of weather. But 20 miles west of Boston ... sheeesh ... ya gotta have built in protection.

69 degrees straight up right now at 351 p.m. Party cloudy, nice pacific breeze. And people think were crazy to live in Cal. Hehe. Good luck with the weather.

Tell it to the guy who lost has whole family in the mudlides last week.

Ha! The good news is that this kind of weather only lasts for about 8 weeks or so. Frankly, I like having four seasons. Sure, it's a nuisance sometimes but "snow days" can be fun! And living in summer weather year 'round would bore me to tears. There's no way I could decorate the Christmas tree and listen to "Winter Wonderland" and "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow" while people are walking around in shorts and swimming. That would profoundly depress me. But, to each his own. :-)

Actually, if you want confirmation that a sunny, tropical climate kills brain cells, just go down to Florida and talk to many of the inhabitants.

Union labor no doubt.

Thanks for posting that photo. Speaking strictly from an artistic standpoint, it's gorgeous. Here's another beautiful one. Same snowstorm, but this is at the Korean War Memorial in Washington, DC. The snow and the photographer's composition add a haunting quality that makes the statues seem ghost-like.

I won't want to post the temps this summer except to plead for sympathy. The electricity going off in the summer is a real emergency!

Yes, I agree. The cinematography in Zhivago was magnificent, and this photo captures the same quality.
