The Aviator, Sideways and Million Dollar Baby were critical darlings much spoken about.

That is the second time I have heard of these movies. I still think the Oscars, and those who nominate these movies are a huge, huge joke. I may not be a movie student.. but Shakespeare in Love comes to mind here. That was a "critical darling" of a movie too, wasn't it?

Terry Teachout, whose judgment I respect, wrote admiring reviews of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Sideways. With the warning that Sideways has a comic bedroom scene in it that some viewers may prefer to avoid.
I liked Shakespeare in Love, although I thought the bedroom scene was de trop and the final scene was saccharine. Otherwise it was a good picture, though not a great one.

"The Aviator" is Francis Ford Copolla, who need only sneeze on film to receive an Oscar nomination.
"Million Dollar Baby" is a culture of death showpiece (Euthanasia IS good after all), so again, it's a natural oscar nominee. Think of The Cider House Rules.
Never heard of "Sideways."

Yeh and Sideways is perverted, Million Dollar Baby supports euthanasia, and the Aviator showcases Leo.
