- GAZA CITY - The top Hamas leader said his militant group is prepared to suspend attacks if Israel stops targeting militants and agrees to release thousands of Palestinian prisoners, according to an interview published Tuesday.
The apparent softening of Hamas' position raised hopes that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas would soon reach a formal cease-fire with militant groups that would pave the way for a new round of peace talks with Israel.
In an interview published in the pan-Arab newspaper Al Hayat, Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said recent truce talks with Abbas had produced "positive results."
Mashaal said Hamas, which has called for Israel to be replaced by an Islamic state, would agree to stop attacks if Israel ends "aggression, invasion, assassination, killings" and agrees to release all Palestinian prisoners.
"If the enemy abides by these conditions, we, in Hamas, and other resistance forces in general, are ready to deal positively with the issue of pacification or temporary truce," Mashaal told the London-based newspaper, which did not say when or where the interview was conducted.
Lower-level Hamas leaders have talked in recent days of accepting a temporary truce, but the interview Tuesday was the first time Mashaal had publicly given his approval.

Or even better, suspend the attacks and Israel won't have any reason to target the militants.

You'd have a BETTER chance of making a deal/truce with a cobra. lol
Once you take away the Cobra's fangs they are much easier to deal with.
But if they are prepared to stop bombing then it is something. Maybe not a start but something.
It must be working or they wouldn't be howling about it. Isreal should keep right on killing militants.

Militants = terrorists
Israel should kill all the captured terrorists then declare that we will now start from square one.
No attacks on ciovilians = no assassinateion of terrorists.

The rapist will stop if we stop threatening it.... but that would be consensual then.
The terrorists/left have a way with words.
All they want is that we admit of our wrongs while they are the ones wronging us. If we are so wrong then let them attempt prosecuting us and condemning us. We do not have to admit and only demand the power of oversight over them as a result.
