'Unfit' Author Corsi to Run vs. Kerry
Newsmax ^ | 1/25/05 | staff

Posted on 01/25/2005 10:33:36 AM PST by pissant

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are credited with bringing John Kerry's real Vietnam war record to light, and now one of the authors of Unfit for Command, Jerome Corsi, says he's going to move to the Back Bay so he can challenge Sen. Kerry for his seat in Congress.

"I'm going to do it," said Corsi. "I've got serious political aspirations now."

Corsi, 58, is not a veteran, but he co-authored the book (that NewsMax helped to make a bestseller) with John O'Neill, that, along with the TV ads from the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, helped expose the real John Kerry to millions of voters.

Now, Corsi hopes to get some of those voters in one of the nation's most liberal states on his side.

"It may be time for a conservative movement to take hold in Massachusetts," Corsi said.

A managing partner in the U.S. Financial Marketing Group, Corsi - who got his PhD from Harvard, a hop skip and a jump from Boston, will sell his part of the company and devote his time to a political career.

He wants to run as a Republican, but told the Boston Herald that if he doesn't get financial backing from the Grand Old Party, he'll just run as an Independent.

And, he says he'll run even if Kerry doesn't.

Corsi is a bit of a controversial figure, even without his Kerry book. Corsi has posted comments on the FreeRepublic website where he reportedly called Islam "a cancer that destroys the body it infects," and called the pope "senile," all of which he claims were meant to be satirical.

The chair of the Mass. Democratic Party Phil Johnston was not amused, or enthused. "I know Massachusetts will not welcome a candidate whose calling card is a disturbing track record of slandering Catholics, the pope, Jews and Vietnam veterans. Carpetbaggers spreading lies and smears are not welcome in our state," he told the Herald.

Kerry's spokespeople had no comment, saying Kerry was too busy with his work in the Senate ... which we can understand. He must have a lot to catch up on, since he essentially took the last two years off to run for president.

Thanks for the ping, it was great talking to you and Mr. Corsi at the W2 Freeper ball. As I told you both that night, you are great Americans who acted when it was needed by your country. Thanks!

You are truly "Citizens, not spectators" in the best sense of the term.

From what I've heard, until this election, Kerry always ran on his Vietnam record. If anyone tried to condemn it, they were politically destroyed as he paraded out his witnesses. When he rean for president, it became "worth it" to fight back.

The fight was fought and this time Kerry lost, and it is quite permanent. Whoever runs against him this time will have more ammunition than they can carry with them against him based on his record in the senate as well has his NOW EXPOSED record in the service.

Kerry could actually lose this one. They may want to run a different democrat.

One of the validating points of the book, was the fact that these two men had no ambitions for themselves...and no other motive than to tell the truth against Kerry's lies.

I don't see this as political ambitions.

We are at war.

We are fighting the enemy within.

We'll see. I hope he's a serious candidate, and hasn't shot himself in the foot with comments that will be dragged all over the media here.

We've had such clowns running against Kerry and Kennedy the last few times, and I include our present Governor, Mitt Romney in that company. For some reason, when Republicans vie for the Senate here, they're afraid to be true Republicans, so they end up being 'Democrat Lite', so folks don't see the point in voting for someone who's for the most part, just like the guy already in office. The voters here keep thinking in terms of 'Seniority', hoping against hope that the Dems will someday return to power in Congress.

'Carpetbagger'? John Kerry moved five times the year he first ran for congress....to find an open seat. Kerry is an expert on carpetbaggery.

I predict a pretty sizable war chest will accumulate for Corsi, peppered with a lot of Freeper contributions - I'll be one of those, in fact I hope he has a way to accept an automatic monthly donation.

I want J F'n completely out of politics as of 2009.

The SOB needs to be removed from the US Senate NOW!

For those who "forgot" what Hanoi Kerry

Hanoi Kerry was still a USNR officer while he:
gave false hearsay testimony to Congress
negotiated with the enemy
helped the US lose a war
abetted in the deaths of millions
created a hostile environment for all servicemen

"Well, Dr. Corsi is a fine man, but I really wish he would not have done this. It actually casts a pall over the book. It loses validity."

The validity of the book is not in question when about 97% of the Command structure above him, including several Admirals and a flock of Captains, Commanders, etc. say that he told a pack of lies. All J F'n has on his side are 12 or 13 malcontents/opportunists. The guy who sat right behind him, Steven Gardner, is one of his harshest critics. Validity in question? I don't think so.
