BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Divisions 2nd Commando Brigade Combat Team prevented an apparent kidnapping of eight Iraqis Jan. 26 in western Baghdad.
During a patrol in Baghdads Khadamiyah district, the Soldiers noticed a suspicious vehicle about 8:30 p.m. They stopped the vehicle and found three Iraqis bound and gagged.
They detained five suspects in possession of four pistols, an AK-47 assault rifle and a sub-machine gun outfitted with a silencer.
The kidnap victims included a sheik and an administrator from the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.
No shots were fired. The suspects detained are being held for further questioning.
This is wonderful news, but if I'm reading the article correctly, our troops rescued 3 bound and gagged Iraqis and 5 Iraqi kidnappers from one vehicle. Great work in any case!
Tea and Biscuits?.......
Cut off their heads, miserable scum.
Brave kidnappers eh?
what the fu$ck do we do with all these people caught committing these crimes? 25 yrs to life if done over here and we are not at war. Time to execute this vermin!!
Way to go soldiers!!! Your doing an awsome job!
There should have been 5 shots fired, Into the backs of the head of the 5 kidnappers.
Must have been a typo on their part. But great news anyway!
O.K., I give up. Why does the reporter call the armed Iraqis: "suspects?" Just call them terrorists or criminals.
I agree. This is completely insane.
These people should be shot dead immediately.
What a way to fight a war.
Interrogate and then hand them over to the Iraqi government. Punishments aren't light over there.
..While they may be worthless murderers, our soldiers do not try, convict and execute arrested criminals.
Strange, I don't see any mention of this positive accomplishment by our troops in the main news outlets. I wonder why...
I meant to say the Ishtar movie (sp?)
Update:
BAGHDAD (AP) Five suspected Iraqi freedom fighters brutally detained by imperialist United States occupiers on Jan 26 were released following nearly 24 minutes of purported inhuman torture in the infamous Abu Ghraib prison.
"I was forced to wear panties on my head while episodes of Barney were played over and over again without audio while infidel pigs force-fed me nachos and Pepsi products," said Muhammad Hootha-Fakawi.
"The Americans asked me my name! Three times!" shouted Abdul The Jackal. "But I lied to them, just like I did on my Green Card paperwork, by Allah!"
Senate Democrats were outraged by the plight of the kidnappers, and demanded once again that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld resign.
"These poor kidnappers were only protesting in the only way they know how in a land that has never known free speech," decried Barbara Boxer (D-California). "Our troops and the so-called "Iraqi National Guard" are thugs and hooligans who knowlingly interfered with a humanitarian beheading."
General Casey could not be reached for comment.
I kinda liked Ishtar.
Tellin' the truth can be dangerous business,
honest and popular don't go hand in hand
If you admit that you can play the accordian
no one will hire you in a rock and roll band.
How about the complete works of Barbra Streisand as well.
Of course, that would probably get the jailer a ten year prison sentence for torture.
