I don't think so. This looks like a Trident class sub, (I'm no expert, but my fishing buddy is a lead supervisor at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and I've been treated to some inside stuff about the Navy's retro-fitting plans for the Trident fleet), and it was scheduled to be refurbished into a new awesome reincarnation.

They'll probably just rework the retro-fitting schedule since that portion of the sub will be modified anyway.

In that case they might salvage something. There will be extensive x-ray testing of the pressure hull and pressure fittings.

You can say that again ...

This looks like a Trident class sub…

USS SAN FRANCISCO is the 24th submarine in the LOS ANGELES class and the sixth ship of that class built by Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Va.

?

Trident?

No. Whoever told you about Tridents, or described the Tridents to you, should be corrected. Firmly.

She was an Improved 688 class.

It is an SSN (attack sub) not an SSBN (Trident sub).

It's not a Trident. That I'm pretty sure about. Somewhere I think it was id'ed as 688-class. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

That's no Trident hotel, that there is a real warship.
