WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Gloria Feldt, the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, resigned her post unexpectedly Thursday.

A statement issued by the organization gave no indication of her future plans or the reason for her sudden departure after eight years as PPFA's president.

"We honor Gloria Feldt's contributions to Planned Parenthood and to the global movement for reproductive justice," PPFA Chairman La Don Love said. "Her leadership has resulted in significant achievements for the organization and for women and families worldwide."

Karen Pearl, currently the chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood of Nassau County, N.Y., will, the group said, step in as interim president and would oversee the process of selecting a new president which, Love said, "will begin immediately."

A teen mother from rural Texas, Feldt joined Planned Parenthood in 1974 and was named the group's national president in 1996.

resigned her post unexpectedly Thursday.

It's her sovereign, unquestioned right to choose to do so, and that without explanation, and without apology.

Its just a sensible business decision for Gloria Feldt. There was a terrific high-paying job opening for a top executive position in the Seventh Circle of Hell.

I guess she wasn't getting the same thrill from infanticide that she used to.

"I would resign to spend more time with my family-- but, thanks to my work here, I DON'T HAVE ONE!"

She wasn't sleeping well lately.

She will not rest for all eternity, never to deserve or find any peace.

"We honor Gloria Feldt's contributions to Planned Parenthood and to the global movement for reproductive justice,"

If the PPFA is part of the "global movement for reproductive justice," is the KKK part of the global movement for racial justice?

I guess, after all these years, she still can't wash the blood from her hands...

She's free to come to our church, she'll find forgiveness there, and more importantly a God who'll forgive her as well.

Sadly (for her), your kind church is that the last place on earth that mass murderer Gloria Feldt has any possibility of appearing in. She is off to devote full time to her passionate hobby of breaking the legs of kittens.

God can save her soul. But as of right now it is condemned if she has not come to Christ. And as a Christian you know how God feels about harming a child. Our nation will be punished for allowing this Satanic behavior to continue.

I do hope she does come to a church like yours and comes to Christ. But I hope for justice just as strongly.

They're going through top bosses rather quickley and abruptly, aren't they? Or am I confusing this with Patricia Ireland's rapid departure from the YWCA?

global movement for reproductive justice

Yeah, I can't decide if that phrase sounds more like George Orwell or Ambrose Bierce.
