Mighty Microsoft continues to grow from strength to strength, defying all nay sayers and the ankle biters who keep promising to "put Microsoft out of business".

With Servers growing at a solid 18% and even the XBOX now profitable thinks to Halo 2, with record revenues and record profits, Microsoft looks stronger than ever.

Pst... an $84 million profit on $1.37 billion revenue for the Entertainment and Games division does not confidence create. Halo 2 sold 6.5 million copies and the Xbox outsold the PS2 since August (thanks in part to Sony's strategy of deliberately undersupplying the market to create demand in anticipation of their PS2 redesign), yet they only made an $84 million profit?

You can get the E&G division isn't celebrating, just wiping their brows.

Now let's see how the rumors of Microsoft ceasing Xbox manufacturing in anticipation of the Xbox2's release turn out.

In regards to my #4, I meant to type "bet," not "get," when I said "You can bet the E&G division isn't celebrating."

Sorry for the typo.

Keep talking it up Kwasi - I got a bunch of MSFT and I like the help!!

It is hard to fathom why the stock has been so flat for 3 years because Microsoft, while challanged everywhere, still dominates, or turns in credible performances, in almost every sector that they compete in.

Frankly, I think they need better spokesmen! Ballmer is a disaster as the public relations face of the company! And Bill ain't much better!

You ought to apply for the job!

Good point. Microsoft is a juggernaut that will not easily be pushed aside. For those who think Microsoft is nothing but a house of cards, think again. They are going to be around for a long, long time.

Not many people realize that most of Microsoft's software (outside the USA) is pirated. Microsoft is developing ways to effectively disable that software which will force those people to eventually get the legit versions. That alone will bring many billions of dollars of revenue streaming into Microsoft.

The solution to pirating is not to sue a bunch of people but just make the bogus copies unusuable. Technologies that will make that happen are already on the way.

.. with record revenues and record profits, Microsoft looks stronger than ever.

So ya gotta wonder why the company is taking such desperate measures, like denying security updates to pirated copies of Windows.... and pricing the european stripped-down version the same as the full-bloat version.

MS obviously isn't hurting for revenue, so it looks like it's an obvious and serious attitude problem.
