O'Reilly Admits He Was Wrong

Bill O'Reilly named himself "The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day" on last night's Factor.

"FOX News host Bill O'Reilly denied calling Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) a 'nut' and promised to play a clip on the air to verify his denial. In fact, he did indeed call Boxer a 'nut' on his January 19 radio program," Media Matters explained.

On the Jan. 25th Factor, St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist challenged O'Reilly's use of the words "idiot" and "nut" to describe people:

BROWN: You did it last week. You did it last week on -- with Barbara Boxer. You called her a "nut." You called the voters who voted for her "loony." Is that not true?

O'REILLY: That's not true. I mean, what I do is I say, "there are loony left-wing people" or "this is nuts," but I never say "She's a nut" or "This person is a loon."

Brown was right. On Jan. 19th, O'Reilly said the following about Boxer on his radio show: "this is a nut. All right? This is a nut we got in the Senate."

"Now I denied doing that, and I didn't on television. But on the radio -- uh oh -- I forgot that I indeed did apply that word to Senator Boxer, while analyzing her strategy, or lack thereof, to fight terrorism. So Brown was right and I was wrong," O'Reilly said.

He should have added that, "However, I wasn't wrong about her being a nut!"

No matter what O'Reilly says Barbara Boxer is, of course, a NUT, an EXTREME NUT, a total NUTCASE, a FRUITCAKE, and so forth.

His use of that terminolgy was perfectly appropriate and accurate - but considering the fact that she is a liberal Democrat the adjectives are a redundancy.

Notice he didn't stand by what he said, he just admitted he had said it, sounded like a sheepish pseudo apology to me.
BOR is wishy washy, and disingenuious. He is much like, but slightly to the right of another Bill... Clinton.

Didn't he admit that what he didn't do, would have been wrong, had he done it, which he actually was caught doing, but still, his opinion, though it was inappropriate, is still valid?

Sounds like "no spin" to me.

O'Reilly annoys me at times but you have to admire that the guy had the class and courage to get up on national TV and admit that he'd dropped the ball.

He also should have added that Sylvester Brown is a worthless race baiter.

I think you just took the lead for tonight's segment of the Most Ridiculous Item of the Day.

This comment is absolutely laughable.

How many folks go on and say "I was wrong. I did, in fact, do (something) though I said I hadn't." Certainly not Dan Rather, or Kewpie Couric, or anyone at CNN, or MSNBC....

He gets points here. He admitted being in error (though the statement itself is accurate) and publicly corrected himself.

In my view ... Boxer is not a nut. I believe her to be a cold and calculating marxist elitist who is doing her part to end our republic and replace it with a communist / socialist regime that is headed by her and those like her.

:) Sorry about all the pics, I was just having fun! It is good to see a conservative at 18! I have three younger sisters and two are democrats! One was brainwashed by her trial lawyer husband, one I respect her position because she made her own mind up(even though I'm workin on her), and my youngest sister didn't vote and still doesn't care...she just turned 21. I like your about page. I'm turning 28 in February, and I didn't vote until this year. I held onto some liberal views for a while when I was young. I was very naive and stubborn in my hippy hopes for world peace.
